Sorry but that ending leaves everything on a sour note. They should have properly concluded this story arc and left the door open for another adventure. That way you get a complete and satisfying story as well as an opening for a second season (which will never happen). This was a dumb move by ABC.

I thought it was a fun little series. I'd be shocked if it came back but ABC might need some filler and it didn't look too expensive to make.

As a musical theater nerd, I did appreciate the "Kiss the Girl" joke. Alan Menken wrote the music for "The Little Mermaid" and this show.

I don't think the network typically has a say on whether a show ends a season on a cliffhanger or not. I think that's something the producers decide.

That said, the idea of wrapping everything up at the end of a season is still a relatively new concept, especially for a network show. It appears that the Galavant producers were optimistic for continuing the show, and in hindsight overly so.

Still, even if it's not picked up by ABC, it could move to a cable network or streaming service, maybe just for an abbreviated finale. I wouldn't mind a 90-minute "TV-movie" to wrap up the loose ends.

I'd say the dumb move by ABC was marketing the series as "an epic 4-week long adventure." The adventure is apparently longer than 4 weeks, the rest of which we're unlikely to ever see.

If it tricked you into watching it, then it was a clever move by ABC.

Producers don't do anything without network approval.

Approval maybe, but I don't think it was ABC that necessarily decided on making it a cliffhanger; it's more likely that ABC simply didn't oppose the decision.

A lot of shows have ended on a cliffhanger:

Syfy recently aired Accension has a "limited series," but the finale is a cliffhanger clearly intended to lead into a 2nd season.

Keep in mind that Galavant was originally announced as just a show, not a mini-series or "event."

Except that I didn't watch it because of that particular marketing, it just made me more bothered by the cliffhanger than I would have been otherwise. I dropped Under the Dome after one season and have been wary of CBS ever since, and certainly won't be tuning in to any of their "limited series" events, and now I guess I'll be adding ABC to that list.

Really enjoyed the series, and was fine with the finale. It's a short musical comedy, so I wasn't exactly as emotionally invested as I was with Breaking Bad, hence no real disappointment in the finale. Of course, I'd love another season to see how it plays out, but without one, not a big deal.

I absolutely loved this show, and sure hope ABC brings Galavant back for another season. Best show I've seen in years. The song about poisoning the royals had me in stitches! Sure hope this very unique, very special show comes back...

Enjoyed the show, but if it's over then it's over. Honestly, I'm not sure how long a show like this could go on without really repeating itself.

Looked up some of the cast. It appears Karen David, who plays Isabella, was also one of Damien Scott's many hookups in Strike Back.

I enjoyed this show, and the Menken songs were great. I didn't know he was involved until I saw him in the credits.

I expected it to wrap up based on the "four-week event" description. I'd like to see it continue, but if it doesn't, it won't really bother me. I'd actually forgotten to post about it until I saw this bump.

Wow, that's a surprise. A very very good surprise! As much as I loved the show, I'm pretty shocked it got picked up for another season.

Well I am shocked. I loved the show (despite the bitter taste the finale left in my mouth) but didn't expect it to return.

As much as I enjoyed this weird show, the fact that this was renewed yet the far superior Forever was cancelled is enraging.

I think the one thing that got Galavant renewed was the fact it's limited. I wouldn't be shocked to see ABC use it the exact same way they did this season, with 4 weeks and 8 episodes. I highly doubt they'd consider running it as a regular weekly series, as it really wouldn't work that way at all.

It'll sub in for Once Upon A Time again.

I liked Forever, but I'm not really going to miss it. It was just another procedural, though it did have a slightly better subplot than the ones CBS offer.

I prefer this over Forever. When I watched Forever, I really enjoyed it, but it was just another regular case of the week series for the most part. I've got a bunch of episodes left on my PVR that I'll probably never watch. Galavant was something different and I looked forward to it every week.

If they can keep up the quality, this is great news. This was by far my favorite new show since Breaking Bad. Actually made me laugh a lot, which is something I rarely do nowadays. Plus the music was really good.

As much as I enjoyed it, Galavant looked like it was cheap as hell to make. There were like 3 sets and a bunch of green screen work.
