Glee (FOX) - 6th & Final Season Thread - Fridays starting 1/9/15

Two-hour season premiere is Friday, January 9.

And yes, the series is a shell of what it used to be, but we might as well have a thread for the final season.

The sixth and final season of Glee was commissioned on April 19, 2013, along with the fifth season, as part of a two-season renewal deal for the show on the Fox network. The final season, consisting of 13 episodes, will premiere on Friday, January 9, 2015, with a two-hour episode, and the two-hour series finale will air on March 20, 2015. Episodes will air at 9:00 p.m. Friday, Eastern Time, with premiere and finale starting an hour earlier

Uhh -- I want to be done with this show so bad. The preview I saw in EW looks like they are going back to the well again with Sue trying to get rid of the arts at the high school - which turns me off big time.

I would like if they just gave a where are they now / what did they become spotlight on a few characters each episode and move through the season that way - instead of another goofball plot (but I am just speculating based on what a picture I saw and blurb I read)

I saw that preview too and I was also turned off by the usual Sue plot.

So are they back in Ohio just for the premiere or for the rest of the series? I didn't really enjoy the NYC storylines as this was always a "high school show" for me (although the latter half of last season with the OG cast was much better than the Adam Lambert/Demi Lovato first half), so I may be the only one happy to see them going in the "Old Direction" (har har).

I'm just glad that they're not stretching the 13 episodes out until June. The start/stop nature of the last few seasons really took me out of it. I don't hate the show...I actually enjoy it. Those enjoyable moments have started to diminish quite a bit over the last couple of seasons though, so it is time to call it a day.

I liked the season premiere for the most part. It was good seeing the original cast members. The only downsides was Sue and Becky. Becky is a minor character who should be used in very low doses.

Wasn't Becky in two scenes across the two episodes? One where she only threw a slushy and another which made me laugh out loud when she screamed "The opposing team will be sacrificed!" as Sue pulled the mic away

I enjoyed the premiere and the second episode a lot. Great performances, fun to see the cast back together and as much as I enjoyed the NYC stuff (and I'm one of the few who apparently did) I'm glad they won't split the focus. And 13 episodes seems like just the right amount to wrap it up.

Edit to add: the "Take On Me" bit was really neat and very well done as well.

I was tired of the NYC story line too. I'm glad it's back to school. And I enjoyed the new cast members, especially the Mustang Sally number.

Its kind of interesting that we end up back at McKinley. Last season, Producer Ryan Murphy had talked about leaving the high school completely behind, citing Cory Monteith's death (and probably because the replacement characters never caught on). Of course, the ratings were terrible and here we are again, -and with most of the original players.

Thought the 2-hour season premier was great. Fun seeing the original bunch back together again (sadly, minus Finn). And smart idea to have Rachael start up the Glee program again. Very nice touch with the Ah-Ha pencil sketch video montage. The last song "Home" was a fabulous way to end the show.

I'm tired of Rachel's singing nowadays. But I did enjoy the trio of Santana, Brittany, and Quinn, though.

I was kind of hoping they would have sang the whole A-Ha song - it was oddly abbreviated - great choreography and editing though.

This was my absolute favorite show it's first two seasons. Stopped watching toward the end of 3 (if you count fast forwarding to the musical numbers watching). I want to watch the last season, but can't bring myself to do so.

I thought it was an OK beginning, though the tortured relationships are still tough to take. The new cast members were fine.

They usually do perform shortened versions, though they will sell full versions.

It was surprisingly complicated and they did it very effectively.

I thought both new episodes were pretty good. The song choices were solid. Seeing 'Suddenly Seymour' made my night, haha. I was alright with the NYC stories, but I'm also alright with not returning to them and playing out the final episodes back at the school.

True, and it was good to see her after she missed the Monteith tribute last season.

So true!

Thank you Ryan Murphy for showing us that even people with Down's Syndrome can be annoying horrible people you wouldn't want to spend 1 second with unless it was to choke the life out of them! Yes even Downs Syndrome people can be assholes!

It was a worthwhile lesson for humanity. Thank you for the character of Becky to teach everyone this very important message. Now can we never see her face on TV ever again??? Please?

And do we have to explore every aspect of alternative sexuality in one TV show? My jaw dropped in amazement at the attempt to squeeze one more facet to Coach Bieste with her transgender dysphoria!

This season feels like a parody of Season 1 because even the cast is in on the joke of how cliche and bad it has become and its written into the script!

Can't wait to see how they end this mess.

The main problem with Becky, is that Ryan Murphy, gave into the Lauren Potter's suggestion years ago, to be used on the show more. I should have clarified earlier on Becky as a minor character. To me, she has been the type of minor character that really doesn't add anything to the show other than being PSA. There were other minor characters in the past that would have been better to have had the screen time Becky has had. I actually some of the characters that were written off more than Becky. The characters of Marley, Ryder, Unique/Wade, and Jacob were connected to main theme of the show unlike Becky. But those characters never caught on with the audience.

I was surprised by the Coach Besite revelation and Ryan Murphy is being called out by bloggers because the storyline with Unique was dropped and now they are doing this storyline in the last season.

Loved both of Santana's rants. Well done.
