Was Edible Arrangements around enough in 2002 for that reference to be made? I've only really noticed them from 5 years ago.

Founded in CT in 1999. Possible, but not likely.

I'd call it a match. They discussed the antique cell phone during the "Better Call Saul" Podcast and the scene was intended to be set in 1992 although the year wasn't mentioned on the actual show.

The previews for next week give a pretty good idea what happens next between Nacho and Saul. It's not that. But it's not good either.

See, I think this is VERY different in tone than Breaking Bad. That had humorous elements sometimes, but was most certainly a drama through and through. Of the first episdoes here, only the second leaned more to the dramatic. The first and third were straight up comedy with set-ups and pay-offs and a light, humorous tone. It never occurred to me that the writers viewed it as a drama, but much like Orange is the New Black, Desperate Housewives or Ally McBeal - a comedic hour long show with dramatic elements. All those were Best Comedy nominees. Of course Northern Exposure and Boston Legal also fit that mold and they were considered Dramas for Emmy voting. I can't find any definitive word on how AMC will be submitting this series. They might want to be waiting to see how the season turns out before deciding.

And I'd say the desert bargaining scene with Tuco in the second episode was the closest thing to a comedy bit so far. To the point it started to pull me out of it, but I went along for the ride and enjoyed it. It was tense, but the negotiations turned into a straight up comedy bit.

True, but the opening flashback of this episode did set up the "Here's Johnny!" line used later in the tent scene and that was a funny line for him to say when opening the tent.

I don't expect this show to be straight up drama given that Saul was the comedy relief in BB. I fully expected the lighter tone before the show even started.

Emmy Award rule change: Comedies are now half hour only, so this will be submitted as a drama, which fits more with what it is anyway.

My prediction (which is almost never right): Saul is about to negotiate a deal, give some money to Nacho, and keep a commission.
