I'll wait until the season finale to see if there's a twist, but I don't get Chuck's betrayal. Yeah, Jimmy got his degree from some rinky-dink school, but he passed the bar and is a real lawyer. He's working hard (and, so far, ethically) to build a practice. I also don't understand why HHM would turn down a lucrative lawsuit on the word of a literally tinfoil-wearing partner.
That said, loved the episode. I'd like to see Bob Odenkirk get some Emmy attention. That last scene was great.

I'm just guessing people siding with jimmy have never known a black sheep. I have known a couple who are, to a degree, similar to Saul. Just consistently fucking up for their entire lives. The burden they place on family and friends is gigantic. It would take many years to repair. I'd say no one in the real world would ever stick their neck out and risk everything they've worked for to still give them a chance, but it does happen all the time. Moms and grandmas putting their homes up for bond money, it happens and the results are almost always sad.
This is my favorite show right now and I've felt a great deal of empathy for Saul. I get happy every time he gets a victory. But I totally understand chucks pov.

So you think it's acceptable for Chuck to lie to Jimmy, accept all the help he gave him when he needed it, and then continue to lie to him? Why couldn't he have just been straight with him, from the beginning?
I think it pisses me off even more to think how much I hated Howard, and to then find out that it wasn't even him, but Chuck. It's just cowardly of Chuck to let someone else be the bad guy. Had he done that, Jimmy would've moved on and worked at getting into another firm.
And think about your statement... "It would take many years to repair." Jimmy spent those years, in the mail room, while also bettering himself to the extent that he passed the bar exam. What more would you have him do? It's not like he was asking to be made a partner in the firm.

I'm actually going to feel bad when he becomes Saul. I really feel for Jimmy McGill. Great character, great show!

That's what I don't get. They make it seem like there are only 2 options for Jimmy... go solo or take the offer to HHM. He always had the 3rd option of going to another law firm with this case... that was even more obvious when he was turned down to work with them. If this case was as good as they claimed, it would've been an easy sell elsewhere and he more than likely would've been hired on because of it.

But HHM was already billed for the work....he couldn't just take the case elsewhere.

He should absolutely take the offer and then use that money to go out on his own. He will get around $30,000 upfront plus 20% on the back end. That's way more than he got from those other clients.

I'd venture to say that's how he gets the office setup in the strip mall.
Something tells me he's going to somehow lose that 20% though.

That's the only thing that confused me about the episode. They act like that's the only big law firm in the area. If I had been Jimmy, I would have walked down the street to their biggest competitor, given them the case and secured a nice cushy office there to work on in it.

Chuck is a d-bag. All he had to say was he didn't want Jimmy working as a lawyer with him because they're family, but would help Jimmy get into another firm. Which I believe he could have done.
I kinda hope Hamlin says something nice to Jimmy if they meet again. Now that he doesn't have to be the bad guy for Chuck.

Of course it does. They're being billed for work on the case, therefore, they could easily establish that they have a right to it. Not to mention that Jimmy was working together with one of the partners of HHM on it.

This episode was terrific, I'm sad there's only 1 left until next year. Loved Mike as the bodyguard and the last scene with Jimmy and Chuck.

Chuck is heartless, there are many, many better ways he could have handled this matter..Jimmy is his brother....that's it.
Remember another thing...nepotism only sucks if you have no family....I would think that if I could hire a qualified nephew or child because I have a job that allows me to I would....Or, if I had an relative that wanted to hire me for a job I would certainly take it....It is just the way it is...Only people that dont/can't benefit from nepotism don't like... I understand the theoretical idea of it is unfair...but try and live a life only doing what is right...it is very difficult.

Yeah, the stuff Jimmy's been doing for Chuck goes above and beyond what's expect from most siblings, much less a "black sheep".

Also, people miss things on shows, I wish you would stop with the "Don't you people pay attention?!?" stuff. It happens.

Having never played GTA V, I thought the references to Trevor were because the actor looked like him. I just googled a photo of him and learned that it actually is the same actor.

I don't recall anything about being billed for the work. Even so, if they have a right to the case then why would they let Jimmy walk with it instead of saying tough shit, it's our case now?
Also, people miss things on shows, I wish you would stop with the "Don't you people pay attention?!?" stuff. It happens.

People miss things, yes, but not to this degree. I guarantee half of the "oh look at this huge plot hole" talk on shows would go away if people put down their devices and actually paid attention for the duration of the show. We've become such a distracted society.

Yeah but then people start paying too much attention and it becomes a Christopher Nolan movie thread, or a LOST one.
