Re: The Big Bang Theory (CBS) -- Season 9 Thread - Premieres 9/21/15
I didn't mean that it would give Leonard and Sheldon an excuse to stay roommates forever. I just meant that if their parents got together they'd technically be related. So knowing Sheldon's character that would give him even more of an excuse to be around or pop in on Leonard and Penny (even if Leonard or Sheldon don't live together). Of course they'd keep them friends anyways but I can imagine the stories that could come of them being stepbrothers. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if they go that route because the show is running out of steam and needs something new to reinvigorate it.

Still, I think they'll milk the "we're brothers now" plotline more than once next year.

Sheldon has a twin sister, who has been on the show. And an older brother, who hasn't.

I guess the writers like to keep these family members in their back pocket in case they need them when they're running out of storylines. Which means they probably should've started using them a season or two ago.
Penny - a few brothers and a mother. Sheldon a brother. Amy's father and siblings (any?) - we've seen her mother briefly if I recall. Leonard a brother. Howards has no siblings I don't think (dead parents). Bernie I'm not sure about siblings. I still remember when Bernie first came on the show as a blind date for Howard - and the thing they had in common was their unnatural attachments to their mother. I guess they ditched that angle for Bernie soon afterwards.

If Judd Hirsch is Leonard's father, then the two guys from Numbers are his brothers. So is Murray Goldberg (Jeff Garlin). Also Jeff Goldblum. Plus Leonard's grandfather is immortal.

'Big Bang Theory' Star Says Next Season Could Be Their Last.
Could The Big Bang Theory be ending sooner than we think?
Television's highest-rated comedy recently wrapped its ninth season, but one of its stars is addressing the possibility that the CBS comedy -- led by Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco -- may be over after season 10.
"Look, next season, as it stands on our contract, could be the last season of Big Bang Theory," Kunal Nayyar, who has played Raj since the series debuted in 2007, said recently at the MCM London Comic Con.
"To be completely honest … I know people are going to want to know what happens after season 10. I don't know what's going to happen," he continued.
Nayyar's not the only one in the Big Bang inner circle feeling this way about the show's possible end. When asked if season 10 could be its last, Big Bang showrunner Steve Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter, "I think so."
The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point," Molaro said. "The real answer is, I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can."
Nayyar's recent comments on the show's fate is almost a 180 from what he told ET back in March.
"Next year is season 10, and I hope it's not our last," he said at the time. "I hope we keep going."

These quotes are not a 180 and they do not contradict each other. One is what he hopes would happen and the other is what could happen per contracts.

I still enjoy watching the show, but if it were to end after another season I wouldn't be upset.

It's the only comedy on TV that I often enjoy, and even I agree it needs to end after this season. Probably could even make do with the season being cut short.

It's gotten too far from it's roots. It's now just "Friends" with a whiteboard in the background. Don't want it to end, but don't want it to devolve even more either.
