Either way, it's canceled. It was an ongoing show that's ending which means it has been canceled. Doesn't matter who made the decision.

That stinks...when the show got the renewal for 3 seasons at once (S5-7) I figured that would be the end. I will miss the show but glad they are wrapping it up before the quality suffers.

There's already got another Big Bang Theory spinoff in the works which will basically take the place of what could have been Young Sheldon season 8. With a new spinoff coming out, we won't have any gap in the Big Bang universe.

It's gotten to the point where the actor is aging out of the role. They can't realistically keep the character's age under 14 for much longer, so they would need to kill off the father on the show to be consistent with the prior continuity. I wonder if the series will end with the death of his father.
They have to cover his Dad's passing.

Apparently, the spinoff will be about Georgie and Mandy.

It'll be a traditional 3 camera sitcom. No word on when it will take place in relation to YS or BBT. My guess would be it will take place at least 7-8 years after so the kid can be part of the show.

I wonder if the greenlight for the Georgie & Mandy series means that George Sr.'s death will occur off-screen between the two series. They'll probably end Young Sheldon with the adult Sheldon mentioning something about and that was the last time my father and I yadda-yadda-yadda...

They should have all of Sheldon's family members who appeared on BBT appear with those actors. That would be his mom, Georgie, Missy, and Meemaw, I believe.
From tonight's episode, they finally handled the time that Sheldon caught his father "cheating" in the way I thought they might, or maybe I just saw that theory discussed somewhere.

George Sr never cheated in the way we thought when BBT Sheldon said he walked in on it. Instead, he walked in on his dad and "Helga" never knowing that was really his mom all along.
