Re: Supergirl (S3E12) -- "For Good" -- 1/29/18

Watched this episode just for Lex's power armor. Overall I didn't like it. The power armor was cool but anytime we have to see The Guardian again I just role my eyes. Was excited to see Lena join the cast she has been totally wasted and brought nothing to the table. I also think the Reign storyline is bad. Feels like it would have made more sense for Reign to be Lena, but instead it feels like she was made an original character for no reason other than to bring the stupid Alex wants to be a Mom storyline to light.

I think it was a mistake to have her be Reign but not know it. The way I heard it pitched originally sounded like she'd discover she has these powers and then start to change how she views the world and become a villain more organically. But this just whole secret villain thing is kind of lame. You can tell how it's going to play out. There will be some moment where Reign is killing Supergirl and Supergirl will be like, "C'mon, friend's-name (I forget her name)! I know you're in there! This isn't you! Fight!" like we've seen a million times.

Reign is going to sacrifice herself to save everyone from the other "destroyers".

Unless they actually build in a clever twist (right, this is a CW DC show ) that's the totally obvious end game. The human in Reign takes over and chooses to be a hero. Which of course solves this issue that she is actually more powerful than Kara.

And then we get Alex mommy magically able to do the same things that mommy Reign was able to do without having to be bothered with the responsibility of being a mom.

I was kind of expecting the needle to bend/break when Alex was drawing blood./ I suppose Samantha doesn't have Reign's powers when she's not actually Reign?

Correct. You gotta figure in all her years on Earth pre-Reign, including having a child, she has had dealings with doctors and nurses and has had needles used on her.

Not to mention all the precocious daughters the other destroyers probably have. She's going to have a whole bunch of kids soon!

Yeah the whole girl power thing is getting old and more and more ridiculous. It's to the point of parody. The last episode was some made up radiation that only effects those with a Y chromosome?! WTF?

As ridiculously shoehorned as this was I was really impressed with the medical lingo. I can't believe they basically got everything right. Almond smell from cyanide, sodium thiosulfate as the antidote, even initiating a hypothermia protocol with Supergirl's freeze breath. Very impressed. TV shows almost never get any medical lingo correct. Even medical dramas.
