Re: Dark Side of the Ring on Viceland
Back in the 80s, before extensive CCTV and proper forensics, i reckon a lot of rich/influential people got away with a whole load of crimes
No one can say Vince McMahon is directly responsible for these wrestling tragedies, and people will say the culture was there long before McMahon jnr, but when Vince has an almost monopoly in the industry, he had the power to change things, and he didn't. Wrestlers performing 300 plus nights a year, of course they will need drugs (legal, illegal, prescription) to be able to do this. Wrestlers having to look a certain way, of course they will need steroids to do this. Even today, look at MMA Bobbly Lashley v WWE Bobby Lashley, he is a big chunky undefined guy in MMA, he comes back to WWE, he is bigger and more ripped ! Can't do that without drugs , especially at his age
Wrestling culture and the fear of getting fired caused a hell of a lot of deaths
in this case, WWE knew Snuka was a cokehead yet they did nothing and made it worse by making a naive 22 year old girl his handler

They should all be up On Demand. People have been putting them up on YouTube too.

I was wondering when they’d tackle Owen Hart.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think Snuka ever had a match at Wrestlemania?
Season 2 has been better than season 1
Maybe the Macho Man was the only one I remember from season 1.

Yeah, it’ll be interesting seeing Martha open up about Owen’s death. Honestly really surprised they got her to agree to it, but it’s outside the wrestling business and gives her a chance to tell how it’s been for her and her family since everything happened.

I don't understand why on this Dino Bravo doc, they make it seem like Dino started with WWF in 85 and that before that he only wrestled in Quebec when in fact not only did Dino wrestled before in WWWF, he held his only title in the company during that run with Dominic Denucci as Tag Team Champs.

And it's pretty ironic that Jimmy Hart says that leaving WWF for somewhere else was going to minor leagues when in fact, Jimmy left with Hogan to WCW just a year after Dino Bravo retired. Bravo should have gone to WCW too as he still was a name in the industry.

Yeah the Dino Bravo one was hard to get through. This is not a show where I expect to read the screen for more than half of the episode. I'm positive I missed a lot of the story because I'd tune out when his wife and daughter were being interviewed.

Have to agree. This was the first episode I felt that way. I just couldn’t get invested in his story.

I thought it was just me. I had the same issue. And I watch foreign films and read subtitles all the time.
