SurrealEstate (SYFY) - premieres 7/16/21
SurrealEstate premiered last Friday on SYFY and airs weekly.
https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/surrea...y-how-to-watch
SurrealEstate follows realtor Nick Roman and an elite team of specialists that handle the cases no one else can: haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away. Researching, investigating and “fixing” the things that go bump in the night, the team works to create closure - and closings -- even as they struggle with demons of their own.

Didn't see a thread for this new scripted SYFY series and thought the pilot last week was entertaining. I got heavy Haven vibes with vague nods to the X-Files. A man and woman sell haunted real estate listings, often having to solve the ghost problems before selling the property. Hints of a backstory and ongoing plot threads, so lightly serialized.

Thanks for starting this thread, or I would have missed this. It has an old school SyFy vibe (and by "old school" I mean 2010-ish). First 2 eps were fun.
In addition to being filmed in Canada, it shares an actor with Haven (the IT guy).

Is this “real” or scripted from the start?

SurrealEstate is a scripted drama with touches of horror and a little levity for humor. It's starting up against the Olympics, which makes me nervous for its future.
I've really enjoyed the first two episodes. Definitely an early 2010s SYFY vibe akin to Haven and Eureka. Probably the first show I've completely dug on SYFY since Krypton.

For a minute this week's episode had me shocked. I think this series could have a long run since the cast of characters is pretty good.

I need to catch up on this, as it sounds like something I would enjoy. Also, I tend to give Syfy shows that cast Tim Rozon a shot regardless of the quality of the show.

The first two episodes were way to cheesy and cheap for me (the doll scene and the episode with the little girl). It picks up a bit after that, but the acting isn't all that good. I guess I'll stick with this I just binged 6 episodes in a a row.

I really enjoyed this, and I had to tell myself to stop watching last night and get some sleep. I very quickly made it to the third episode and will be caught up before the week is up. I of course am a Tim Rozon fan, but I also thought the woman who plays his partner but also has supernatural abilities of her own was good on the show. It looked to me like her and Tim seemed to click while working with each other on the show. I also find it a bit interesting and would like to know more about the back-story of the house that disappeared his mother (the same house whose current owner he is crushing on bad).
This show may not be "great," but it does seem to be able to draw you in and make you want to watch one ep after the other as quick as possible. Finally, yes this show feels like something the Syfy channel would have aired say 10-15 years back when shows like Haven were what some of us looked forward to watching on a regular basis.
With the exception of Resident Alien, I had basically stopped watching or paying attention to the Syfy Channel as of late, but between Resident Alien, this show, and well...if they bring back airing Syfy original movies, then the Syfy Channel that I used to constantly watch and love will be back in action. I am aware that my wish for the channel to bring back originals like Sharktopus vs Whalewolf will probably not happen, but they are starting to become a channel I seek out again.

Me too. The gang did a pretty clever job setting that up.
I've watched each episode twice, so safe to say I'm enjoying the show. But it does make me miss the magical (pun intended) lineup of Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Haven.
But ya can't dwell in the past!

I am all caught up, and I am looking forward to I believe the 2 back to back episodes that will be airing soon. Also, yes, I was shocked by what happened in the watchmaker episode but kept telling myself that it had to be connected to their attempt to trick the watchmaker and I am so glad I was right.

The latest episode ended on a fairly ominous note. The owner of the house that is haunted by Tim Rozon's characters mother is now possessed (not by his mothers spirit), and might be a big bad in the show for more than one future episode, but we shall see. This show has turned out to be a lot of fun to watch.

Only 10 episodes? That sucks. With Megan now possessed, maybe they're setting up something big. They haven't really explored Susan's telekinesis.

In the past few days, I was looking at a TVLine what shows that have been cancelled in 2021 that you will miss post and noticed that this show is on the list. Major Bummer, as this quirky show really grows on you as the episodes progress, great cast and chemistry amongst them and I really will miss this show in 2022.

Probably to keep SyFy from ending up as a zombie network (that would be a hilarious coincidence). Short of Chucky and Resident Alien, they don’t have as much original programming as before. I’m not sure on the future of Astrid and Lily Save The World or Day of the Dead.
2023 does see the addition of Reginald the Vampire and The Ark.

Great news that this is coming back, it will be a long wait but if the core cast remains intact I will enjoy watching the new season. Also, if Astrid and Lily Save The World does not get picked up at least it was a genuinely good one and done show.

SYFY should have grabbed Coroner, Hudson and Rez and the other Canadian dramas.

Okay, I know I should usually not bring in a discussion of other shows/films in this thread but I just now clicked on a thread that took me to a Deadline Hollywood post talking about how this show was renewed, and something else I learned in the same Deadline post is that a new Bring It On film will also be airing on Syfy later this year or next year. Since I have seen all of the Bring It On Films up to this point, I was surprised to read the news that the next Bring It On film is called Cheer Or Die, and one of the writers of one of the Bring It On Direct to Video films even had a hand in writing the script.
Just such a random piece of news to stumble into, but I am nervous because horror is not my fave genre but cheerleaders in peril has been a thing in so many other horror films that I guess it was finally time for the Bring It On Universe to step into the realm of horror.
It does sound like the cast of SurrealEstate is coming back for Season 2, so to reiterate my enthusiasm from just a couple posts earlier in this thread, I can't wait to enjoy this show again.

SurrealEstate is coming back for a second season this summer! I saw a small promo for it when watching SyFy's new space series The Ark.
