Not a podcast, but here's the latest Screen Crush breakdown.
I got the opposite feeling. Based on Shaw's disdain for Serizawa's "let them fight plan," and his asking "what if Godzilla had lost?" and stating "I want to help him," it seems Shaw is trying to seal any points of incursion the Titans use to leave the Hollow Earth.

That last ep about "May" was actually pretty good. "May", Shaw, Tim, Duvall?, are all fascinating characters. This series keeps you on your toes. I also like the way the series is making connections in the Monsterverse.
I think once one understands that this series is primarily about Monarch and those connected to it, and that the Monster appearances are bonuses, it really helps to enjoy it more. This way you're not expecting a "monster of the week". We all know Monster CGI is expensive so we have to allow for that. My cynic side fully expects the folk who fund this series to cut the budget at some point down the line resulting in even fewer Monster appearances.
Anyway, the hope for now is when they give us monsters it has real impact and context. So far i feel like they've done that.

Seems to me we haven’t really gotten full closure on Kei, so I am presuming Shaw is looking for a way to go looking for her. Far fetched, and I hope not …
That’s my problem with the KvG stuff. I’ll always give you one exception to build your world … giant monsters are fine. But moving on to Hollow Earth and spaceships and lasers and giant robots … too much for me. It turned into a bad version of Pacific Rim. The concepts work there.
I know, some people will say, “Well if that’s real … why not …” I get that, but it isn’t my style.

I re-watched 2014 last night. It had been many years since I've seen it. I didn't remember that the nuke in the 50's was part of that film as well. I thought it was original to this show.
They should pull a George Lucas and update the original film to have a quick scene showing Cate on the bridge during the attack.

Maybe. I've watched that one a good few times but don't stick around for the credits. I don't remember what the scene was but do remember that it had one.

The 50's Nuke/Godzilla scene was in the G2014 Opening Credit; and in the same film, was talked about by Dr Serizawa and Monarch.

That's my guess too. No way they are dead. Shaw's been to Hollow Earth and back so you probably don't need those fancy planes (just nice to have).

Sooooo Hiroshi and his kids aren't Randas or Shaws by blood. But Verdugo implied the Randas, including the kids, had some kind of "ability" to find Monsters. I guess its not Randa blood...
I did like Cate saying she thought Shaw was going to say he was their Grandfather.

Enjoyable episode overall. And now we know the grandkids aren't biologically Randas. But I wonder what it was that Bill took from Shaw (which the older Bill Randa mentions in the prologue to episode one). It can't be a shot at a relationship with Keiko, because she made her choice. I wonder if it's to do directly with Shaw's mystery incursion into the Hollow Earth. I look forward to seeing how he survived the incursion without the aid of a HEAV.
Anyhoo, here's the latest ScreenCrush episode breakdown:
Any of you actually watching these? I only keep posting them since a couple of you bemoaned the lack of a proper podcast, and these seemed the next best thing.

I still enjoy it but am only invested in Keiko, Shaw, and Tim. The Scooby Gang are bland and uninteresting. Heck, even the thrust of the kids' story fell by the wayside since Hiroshi Randa is still being kept mostly offscreen. Like, he's just a bigamist who went AWOL. The end.

I appreciate it RocShemp . . . they are OK and I watch some of them. I've always thought they widely vary in quality between interesting additions and just generic repeated speculation to fill time. The click-bait algorithmically pleasing titles are off-putting, IMO. Then again, I'm a crotchety old man.

![EEK!](/images/smilies/eek.gif)
and we finally solved the mystery of Lee Shaw's youthful 90-something good looks.
![Wink](/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And then we see how Hiroshi and Emiko met as well.
The finale next week is going to be interesting.

So if you're in hollow earth and somehow it is the magical fountain of youth, then Dr. Andrews and Jia and who ever else is down there to monitor the Kongs also don't age? And nice how they retcon that they just need to travel within the wake of a titan.

I don't think they've shown any kind of time dilation effects in Hollow Earth in the movies, have they?
Or maybe time only runs differently in the forested area that Shaw and the others were in.

Re: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple TV+) - premieres 11/17/23
To be fair, the movies haven't discussed much about the Hollow Earth beyond that it exists. And it seems the show is suggesting it's more of an alternate dimension rather than an underground ecosystem. As for the entry method, just because Apex used the HEAV method, doesn't negate Monarch having previously discovered another method of entry.
That being said, was it ever established in GvK how long it took for Madison, Bernie, and Josh to get from Pensacola to Hong Kong (hyperloop transport notwithstanding), relative to Nathan, Ilene, and Jia's Hollow Earth journey from Antarctica to Hong Kong?
And... Since time dilation is now in play, does that mean years will pass for Kentaro before he is reunited with Cate, May, and Shaw?
Given the Monsterverse timeline jumped forward in Godzilla vs. Kong
is it possible Keiko and Shaw (along with the dead weight of Cate and May) will play a role in GxK as well as the Monsterverse moving forward?
