Re: The Bear (Hulu) - S: Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Abby Elliott

On Tuesday, FX and Hulu announced “The Bear” Season 2 had seen a 70% increase in total hours streamed in the first four days following its June 22 launch — when compared to the FX comedy’s first season stats over that same post-premiere time period.

While FX and Hulu did not reveal the actual streaming figures behind that data point, the Disney-owned brands did confirm “The Bear’s” second season debut was the most-watched premiere of any FX series on Hulu.

According to Hulu, the first season of “The Bear,” which debuted all eight episodes last June 23, was the most-watched single season of a comedy series in FX history.

Wait...what?! "The Bear" is a comedy series?

So Season 3 is happening I take it. Multiple restaurants and breweries here had viewing parties for the season 2 debut.

Finished S1 and yeah it got better but not by much. Richie is one of the most unlikable shitheads on the show. JFC.

Starting S2 now.

Finished S2. Much better than S1.

Not as much screaming over top of each other as S1, but still had it's share - which was annoying.
I liked how they went more in depth with the food preparations, etc. Gives the show more substance.

The Christmas episode was crazy, but I think they just went too over the top with it.

Holy guest stars, Batman. Alex Moffat was barely visible/audible until the last episode, and even then it was very small. Odd to include that little - but what else does he have going on?
The show-runner must really love REM.

Glad Richie's finding his purpose and is turning it around. He's more level headed and calm after working in that restaurant.

Claire is kinda cute in a weird way, but she's sooo close to having a unibrow.

I call The Walking Dead, "Stupid people doing stupid things". With this show I call it "People over-complicating everything".

I found season one very unpleasant and debated whether to bother with season two. I am very glad I did as it was a vastly improved experience. Sure there was still the chaotic fever dream moments, but now there was an actual point to them.

Well my one episode per night pace landed me on Episode 6 tonight. Holy shit. That was an experience.

Besides the jaw-dropping cameos it was a fun music episode. Another great collection of needle drops as well. A Bodeans song I haven't heard in 30 years and Something So Strong by Crowded House, which really hold up.

I just finished S2 E4 and that was an awesome episode, because some of it was actually shot in Copenhagen, Denmark. Been there and know all of the locations they shot in. Hell, even the boat the character was staying in, if memory serves me correctly, is owned by a guy who puts it on AirBNB. I assume production rented it out for filming.

Binged the rest of S2 and I guess I'm not getting the heap of praise the show is getting. The technical merits are fine but every character is just fucking toxic it makes it that much more frustrating when they revert back to their bullshit ways after they have a small victory. Yes, like real life and all, but to have one or two episodes of actual peace before it snowballs back to reality is not entertaining. I think S2 E4 and the one where Richie works at the fine dining restaurant were my favorite. I loathed the family at the dinner table episode. That shit was unbearable.

The episodes were short enough that I was able to binge them since I started them Sunday night.

Another fantastic season. And this one upped the heart. Loved it. Can’t wait until Season 3.

The product placement in this show is well done, Bartenders Friend is commonly used but the explicit mention is the best advertisement that product could ever have. The Stella Artois billboard while drinking Stella Artois was a bit much though.

I thought the writing wasn't as sharp this season with too many attempts to be poignant, but it was still a very good season of an all around terrific show. The ending reminded me of the documentary 42 Grams.

Man I really loved this season. Thought it was really great. I know the Christmas episode is the one everyone will be talking about, and sure it's very good (especially Bernthal and Odenkirk), but it's the quiet meticulous well-observed episodes 4 and 7 that will stick with me. That and the heartbreaking finale. 😢

Great season. Loved the songs (REM, Replacements, Liz Phair). Nice cameos. Cast was great as last season. Writing was great. Gonna be a hard season to top.

Only tiny thing was I've only known one Claire last twenty years and didn't call her Claire Bear. Shows and movies love to do this. I guess it's possible she was called that by friends/family. Her user name on here was shoppingbear, so there's that. Maybe I'm wrong.

What an incredible reinvention of a show that not necessarily needed it. I was gripped in S1. Yes, it was intense and sometimes made you feel uncomfortable, but therein lies the beauty of this show. S2 just reinvented itself and showed us all character, all the time. Simply marvelous episodes, with the Christmas flashback obviously topping the cake. Just a wonderfully written, performed piece of tv drama. Heart, soul, this has it in spades. Near perfect 2 seasons strong.

maybe very dark dark comedy. I know I didn’t laugh hardly ever. No way this is officially categorized as comedy.

It is categorized as a comedy but I agree that drama fits it much better.

Yeah just because it’s half an hour does not equal comedy.

It was categorized as a comedy last year also but it's only actually funny when people give Pete shit or Xanax-laced Ecto Cooler makes an appearance.

John Mullaney giving the Faks $100 just to see what they do with it is funny as hell.

Was reading an interview and apparently they shot the entire season in about 8 weeks. That seems pretty speedy for a 10 episode season.
