Spoiler:
Wait, that’s it? Fuck. Loved it. Loved seeing Homelander and Billy.

Re: Gen V (Amazon) -- The Boys spinoff -- premieres 9/29/23

Had to get a trial Prime subscription so I could get a trial Shudder-Prime-Channel subscription in order to watch Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor, and decided to binge Gen V while I can.

Have tried to watch The Boys but first couple tries only got halfway through ep 1 and haven't yet gone past that.

Nonetheless, just finished ep 3 of Gen V and am really enjoying it.

Finally finished the season. Wow, what an insane bloodbath the finale was. And cool cameo with Homelander dropping in along with Butcher in the mid credits scene.

Interesting ending seeing the 4 locked up. And I assume that scene with Butcher is a tease for The Boys season 4, whenever the hell we get to see it.

So when is season two?
It hasn’t even been filmed yet. There’s still a strike with the actors. Although the writers are probably scripting it out.

Meh thought the ending was just OK.

I did enjoy the series though as a whole not as much as the Boys however.

I can understand... even though they are in the same universe, the Boys seems way more cynical because of the stakes and because of the characters, whereas the Gen V folks are generally actually decent human beings not yet corrupted by their surroundings. It's much easier to like and cheer them on than, say Butcher and even Hughie.

Even Cate is still pretty nice to her friends, if not to the random supes she sends into a helicopter. She even asks Sam repeatedly if he needs her help.

My other "problem" with this show is the actor who play Sam. Can't stand his "acting" or the character.

Nope, not saying that at all. For whatever reason, I just haven't made it past ep 1 of The Boys. Doesn't mean I don't like it, because since I haven't seen more than a half-ep, I have no basis to judge.

Happened upon Gen V and decided to give it a shot and for whatever reason I was able to get traction. I'm enjoying it. I'll take another run at The Boys after.

Gen V comes off as more than a simple spin-off of The Boys; it's more like an expansion, if that makes sense. Like, the whole show could have been a b-plot on the main series.

Overall enjoyable but not even close to the Boys.

Oh, it seemed like you meant you couldn't make it through a whole episode because you didn't like it. My bad.

I actually like this sort of thing. Star Wars is doing something similar. It makes it feel like you don't have to wait as long between seasons of a show when multiple shows are connected.

I was trying to avoid over-explaining why I hadn't gotten any traction with The Boys ...

I am familiar enough with the original series to say that I do think it's possible to enjoy one more than the other though, Gen V seems smaller in scale and with a different focus.

If The Boys were Uncanny X-Men, than Gen V is The New Mutants.

Yeah. And, curiously enough, in The Boys comic, John Godolkin (the inspiration for Godolkin University in the series) and his G-Men and assorted ancillary teams like G-Force, G-Wiz, and G-Style were analogs for Charles Xavier, the X-Men, and all of the spin-off teams.

Well, definitely will binge The Boys now. That was a real nice season finale/ cliff-hanger. Sam & Emma should have their own show, no matter what genre. Maybe a King of Queens reboot? Whatever they were in it would be good.

Sad news. Chance Perdomo, played Andre, was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was only 27.

😢😢😢

That’ll change the storyline a bit… unless they recast him.

Season 2 production delayed due to Perdomo’s death. Totally understandable.

Shit. Motorcycle accident took him out at just 27? That blows.
