I thought there was a chance they might bring back Talking Dead for this but I guess. I guess they really did end it with the original show.

Best Walking Dead episode in a long time. Even better than Daryl Dixon and Dead City. Good to have Rick back, although he wasn’t in a great state of mind. And then he hacks off his hand. This picks up 5 years after the bridge scene of the main show.
I was a little surprised they killed off that character in that climatic sequence. It was a pretty gruesome death.
Lincoln, Gurira and Scott Gimple all are credited as writers on the episode. If you watch it on AMC+, there is a 4 minute interview with all them.
Several F bombs are dropped. I’m curious if AMC’s airings will keep them.
At least they didn’t drag out keeping Rick and Michonne apart.

Surprisingly, that was very good... and I went in with low expectations. WTF did Michonne fire at the soldier to kill him like that?
BTW, good to see Terry O'Quinn again, haven't seen him in anything since Lost.

That was way better than I expected it to be. I skipped Dead City and Daryl, so idk if I'm really missing anything there, but I'm going to stick with this one.
The cable channel did keep the F bombs.

The only things really referenced so far are The World Beyond (the CRM and its involvement with Omaha are covered in that series) and Fear the Walking Dead (the CRM plays a very minor role in that series).
But I also wouldn't be surprised at all if there isn't some kind of big event at some point that might bring together Rick, Michonne, Darryl, Maggie, Negan, and Morgan.

It looks like the next episode will be spent showing what Michonne has been up to since she left TWD. I'm guessing it will also end with her finding Rick. So probably only 4 actual episodes with Rick and Michonne together (outside whatever kind of dream crap they had in this first episode).

I’ll keep watching. Lots of storytelling about off camera past events, but that’s forgivable for an episode 1. On the other hand there was very little Michonne, which was a big plus. So next week will be the real test when as we all assume it is a Michonne episode.

You should check out Patriot (on Amazon). It's one of my favorite shows of the last decade.

I skipped the last 5 seasons of TWD.
This was pretty good. Was fun to see into the zombie apocalypse future. Humans ruin everything.

Seriously. After awhile, I just roll my eyes. If the zombie apocalypse actually ends up like TWD, we deserve it.
I want to see a zombie movie where we deal with the crisis and move on from it.

I enjoyed episode one a bunch and episode two was just as good. The actor playing Nat killed it. The thing I like about these six episode spin off series is there's a lot less filler. Most everything moves the plot along or at least has symbolic significance to the story being told. Nat taking down the chopper and them not having even the slightest clue Rick was in there was not how I thought Michone's end was going to play out.
These two episodes have been as good as any peak Walking Dead episodes they've done. I hope the story stays as compelling now that's it's less about a journey to find each other and more about liberating Philly.

I haven't watched ep 2, yet, but Rick's helicopter getting taken down and landing at Michonne's feet was just too fucking contrived.
And the whole chopping the hand off... Are we going to have the stupid spiked ball hand nonsense, again?
Glad some of you enjoyed this, but it already feels like same old, same old. I'll watch another couple of episodes, but I hope it get less ridiculous.

I watched the first 2 episodes just to see Rick get discovered - since the original TWD didn't give us any of that.
I dunno about anyone else, but I would've tried using the axe to cut the wire instead of my hand.
I hated that the 2nd episode was just the timeframe from Michone's perspective. They did that sort of thing a bunch of times with TWD and it took forever to move the story forward by doing this. I would've been pissed if they ended the second episode at the point of Michone and Rick meeting. Luckily they continued past that with another 10-15 minutes of stuff.
I don't know if I'll watch any more since I witnessed Rick being found now.

Kind of a filler episode, but I can't help but wonder where this is all heading? Two episodes left. This has to be getting a second season, or some sort of wrap up movie with the other characters from the original series, right?

Oh boy, a full episode focused on the zero chemistry and entirely contrived Rick & Michonne “relationship.” Exactly what I was afraid this series would be since I could not care less about “their” story. Add to that the CRM part of the show is a confused mess, so I don’t see much hope for this and I think that’s about it for me.

- whether the zombies evolve to completely eliminate humanity,
- whether someone out there figures out a cure to save humanity
- or whether some group actually comes together to create a new better world.
But that would mean the end of the 'franchise' and all the other opportunities they have out there to grind this idea into the ground until not one person is left willing to waste time watching this crap.

This series is a huge let-down.
While it's nice to have Rick and Michonne back, this whole thing just feels like a Disney ear Star Wars or post-Thanos MCU exercise in futility. Or, as I've heard to it referred to as a "content treadmill."
With one episode left to go, it just feels like they're just treading water and setting up something that might or might not get some kind of payoff or resolution five or ten years down the road.
They've been setting the CRM thing for years -- back in Fear the Walking Dead and World Beyond -- and it just feels like we still don't know much about it. They're just kind of general antagonists who do really bad things for no reason.

Well, I guess this was a one and done series. That was a wrap up if there was ever one.
I know a few of you didn’t like this series and that’s fine. No one expects that. But I liked this wrap up series for Rick and Michonne and it was good the Rick character finally got proper closure. And it ends on a hopeful note, not grim and dark.
If you guys didn’t like or have no interest in Dead City or Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol, this can be your proper TWD series finale.
