Wow, I thought that the finale was off the charts good. I really was surprised by the ending and that rarely happens any longer. It was as STORY said thrilling. With as good as it ended, and a second season insured, I would expect this to really take off. Apple + really has some terrific shows.

It is a good couple months for TV for me. SILO (and renewed) FROM (and renewed) Warrior Nun (resurrected) yay! Star Trek Strange New Worlds (back) Witcher (back)

We still don’t know who resurrected Warrior Nun, or in what form. Netflix was the obvious place for it (despite Netflix’ penchant for never running anything for more than 2, or at most 3, years) since they have a big scifi/fantasy roster and almost nobody else does. Apple TV+? Maybe, they’ve got a few but they’re all straight scifi not fantasy like Warrior Nun.

Amazon would probably pick it up, possibly on Freevee which is gaining traction (oddly enough) from Jury Duty.

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

I don’t think we followed the whole tape plot. It was clearly used for something, but unsure what. Something affected her suit, air or the video inside the visor?

I think next year would be great to give it a Lost fee if they opened with her
Spoiler:
knocking on the door of the Silo next door.

Did anybody get the feeling the mayor wasn’t aware of the larger door she referenced downstairs? I assumed it would lead out, but perhaps are
Spoiler:
connectors between Silos.

Also, really liked some of the other characters who popped up in the finale. I hope we get to see more of them next season.

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

This is what I thought was going on with the tape:
Spoiler:
The tape that they normally put on those sent to clean is intentionally faulty to allow the outside air inside the suit and kill the person. They replaced it with the tape from down deep which allows her to keep going.

It was a tad confusing, so I could be wrong.

That's what I assume.

That's how I figured it as well.

Excellent finish which certainly brings up more questions than it answers. Definitely going to dive into the books so I don't have to wait for season 2 for more story.

I called that ending and I haven't even read the books, but I might, now. It is a terrific show.

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

Just finished. Cool as hell. Glad it was renewed.

So my question is this. The OG sheriff and his wife died. Was there a screen on the suit that gave the illusion of the world being normal? Seems like that is a waste. Why make people who were destined to die think it was something it was not?

But they have seen the screen from inside the silo and know what it shows. I just don't get why they would provide the illusion of a perfect world to someone who will be dead shortly.

What they show everyone on the big screen is a lie as well. It shows a ruined world that is still better than the actual outside world and hides the things they don't want them to see. When someone "goes out" their helmet's visor shows a beautiful fake world so that they're inspired to clean the camera in the false hope that everyone will see this "reality."

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

Yeah, but by that logic everybody should want to go outside to “clean” and nobody would be left in the Silo.

That still doesn't make sense to me though. Cleaning the camera isn't going to magically make people see the utopia world. Regardless of my nitpick (along with resource stuff, as in how do they continue to have suits to send people outside, or tape or other goods), it was still a great show.

As much as I like the show you do have to turn off your brain as almost none of it makes any realistic sense. My list of nitpicks is a long one but the camera is near the top of that list. Unless they're pumping some happy fun time drugs into those suits why would any of those who go outside think for a minute that the problem that's been holding their society in the dark for centuries is a smudged camera lens?

Because these people are all oppressed. It's like NK in there and when you're ruled under that sort of regime. You better believe what they tell you. You upset the status quo and they will kill you, as they have been doing to most characters that step out of line. The whole "order" of things is a load of horseshit. It's a subversive show. I've yet to read the novels, but am assuming that the same themes apply.

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

they have been selectively allowing certain people to have children … probably selecting the most docile, listen to their leaders/follow the pact, don’t rock the boat type of people. Even in their greatest moment of defiance i.e. getting exiled to die, almost everyone agrees to clean the camera as their final/last act of submitting to the silo before going off to “live their new life.” Imagine a death row immate getting a last minute repreive with the green scenery in their helmet. They must have a temporary sense of relief. I think most will clean

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

I just finished the season finale tonight. I don’t really have any theories or analysis to add other than I thought this was one of the best and smartest science fiction shows in a long time. Ferguson and Common were so good in this series. Hopefully the strikes get resolved and we won’t have to wait two years for season 2.

I read that all the scripts are written and this is not affected,

That would be fine if only the writers were on strike. Hard to shoot anything when actors are on strike as well.

Re: Silo (Apple TV+) - S: Rebecca Ferguson - premieres 5/5/23

I thought this was fantastic and watched the last 5 episodes all last night. I didn't predict the ending and figured out
Spoiler:
in real time, just like Juliette did, that the helmet was VR when those birds flew across the screen.
I don't often get surprised anymore, so that was refreshing. I read the first section of Wool years ago--not even the first book, but ending where the first episode ended. I'm going back and reading the series (I think I even own the first one since I read it on my Kindle! Really looking forward to season 2, but it will be a long wait.

A few things about the over heating panel.
I figured the steam from the water cooling that panel would be too hot and burn her alive.
Jules isn’t great at floating in water.
Someone should have been pulling on her rope to keep her blue the water line while she was in the hold.

Anyway just a few minor observations.

like the show so far.
