Barry (HBO) - The Fourth and Final Season - premieres 4/16/23
Barry has been targeted for death.
As has long been speculated, the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s Bill Hader-led hitman comedy will indeed be its last, TVLine has confirmed. Season 4, which will consist of eight episodes, will bow April 16.
“It was very much in the writing and the storytelling,” Hader tells our sister pub Variety of the decision to end the series with Season 4. “I mean, a lot of people after last season were like, ‘Why are you doing another season? It should have just ended.’ But to me, there are still so many questions with the other characters, and with Barry — and there’s so many things unsaid.
“What happens in Season 4 is structurally radical in some ways, but it made sense for what I think the characters needed to go through,” he added, “and what I think the whole show is always kind of headed towards. You realize, well, we could pad a lot of stuff, and just make story. But if we’re going forward, it ends in Season 4.”
Last September on the Emmys red carpet, Barry co-star Henry Winkler all but confirmed that the end was nigh. When Variety asked Winkler how many seasons he thinks Barry will run, Winkler responded: “Four.”
When asked why he thinks that, Winkler responded: “Because Bill and [co-creator] Alec [Berg] never try to stretch… They don’t want to push it.” Winkler added with a smile that he doesn’t want Barry to end “because now I’m an actor back on the street again.”

That looks dark. And confirmed this is the final season. I'm glad about that, this story feels like it's very close to the end.

Oh, man...Barry's ending too? Barry, Succession, Ted Lasso...talk about shows leaving in their "prime." We're both getting and losing a lot of good TV this year.

Personally, I don't lament this. I much prefer for great shows to go out on top rather than wear out their welcome. Can't wait for the final season of Barry!

I still need to watch the third season. I’m much in the camp of shows ending before they wear out their welcome.

Episodes 1 & 2 premiere on Sunday.
I was wondering how the final Barry was going to air right after the final Succession (which has 7 episodes left). Now we know.

I’ve been rewatching the show. I won’t be caught up in time for the premiere but enjoying revisiting it. Almost done with season one. One thing I appreciate about it is the fact that it tells a good story in a short span of time. Half hour episodes that basically fly by and the seasons are short.

I liked that all this illegal cartel/mob talk is happening and then the D&B employee interrupts asking what appetizers they'd like to start off with - and it's answered without issues.
And then later on: "We have the room for another hour". All handled like a standard business meeting in an office.
Can someone just kill Sally already? Was hoping she'd leave the show, but she's still sticking around.
She and her backstory are depressing, her current storyline is annoying and so is the character.
And then later on: "We have the room for another hour". All handled like a standard business meeting in an office.

I will miss Hank most of all
His look outside during the premiere when the landlady said there was a sand shortage killed me. He's the best.

NoHo Hank is one of the best characters on tv.
It actually took that phone call to Cousineau for me to realize Barry is a true sociopath.

Wasn't all of the illegal mob talk really just about starting a sand empire? I think it veered when NoHo started talking about breaking Barry out.

It's getting to the point where it's almost too dark for me. I don't like anyone on the show anymore. Except Hank. He is the fucking best. I hope everyone else goes down except for him and he ends up living on a tropical island or something.
