Yeah I liked it. Not sure about the other actress, she seemed a little wooden. Obviously, Jodie Foster is as good as they get, and it’s a joy to watch her play a detective again.
A little disappointed that they not only chose a different song for the opening credits, but a really famous and contemporary one at that. Speaking of music choices, did anyone catch what song was playing as Liz was looking through the old files?

I really liked this first episode. Jodie was pretty good. I did try and watch the first episode of the first season, but was bored with all the non-stop rambling of Matthew M. I barely made it 30 minutes in. This one with Jodie held my interest from start to finish.

I got a John's Carpenter The Thing and 30 Days Of Night vibe after the first episode.

Yes I caught that as well. Thought the premiere was pretty good. I'm interested to see where Issa Lopez takes this. Pretty sure she wrote or co-wrote and directed all 6 episodes.

I always notice little nods to The Thing in other movies and tv shows.
I don't know if there's any other movie that went from being despised upon release (box office bomb, critical drubbing) to becoming a modern day classic. And it just seemed to happen organically as more and more people watched it.
I remember its initial release when I was about seven or so, and there was a general sense that it was a terrible movie, but then I actually saw it a few years later on HBO when I was about twelve and it blew my fucking mind. Like, it was right up there with Alien for me.

Blade Runner, from what I recall, mostly left audience and critics bored and confused. The Thing actually angered and offended them.
But yeah, Blade Runner was absolutely underappreciated when it came out and went on to become one of the most influential movies of all time; by the 90s Hollywood had embraced its dark, smoky aesthetic. Though in Blade Runner's case, I don't think it really caught on in the mainstream until the directors cut was released ten years later.

I wasn’t sold on the show until around halfway through. It got better in the last half and the ending is intriguing.
Jodie Foster is great as expected but she’s kind of carrying the show at this point. The actor playing the younger officer seems pretty good too.

I didn’t realize this was actually filmed in Iceland. That really added to the atmosphere. Yeah Jodie was solid as Liz. I think her relationship with Evangeline will eventually develop. I get the gist that they have a tension filled past.
That ending with the scientists all popsicles was interesting. I couldn’t really tell, did that look like all 8 bodies?

That was fantastic. Hooked from the very start. Definitely 30 Days of Night and The Thing vibe. I missed the copy of The Thing on the shelf and had to go back after reading this thread.

One thing I didn’t really expect with this show is that it would have a supernatural element. Seems like that’s going to play somewhat of a factor into the season.

I walked away from the show when I was not that deep into season 2, but when I started seeing positive articles popping up over the past month or so on line about this season I decided to jump back in.
Glad I did, as I am sufficiently intrigued to stick around until the end. The male deputy who is Foster's partner is so far holding his own acting alongside a legend like Foster.
Between this and Wind River it is becoming all too easy to stereotype dudes who work in inhospitable climates as misogynistic assholes.
Also, it is hard to believe how long it has been since season 1 aired.

Enjoyed this premiere. I have a feeling it's the water that's fucking people up. Jodie went to see this one guy and he mentioned how the water went bad about 3 days ago....which was when the opening in the station took place.

I'm liking his character more than the second-generation lawman played by Joe Keery in Fargo S5.
