Survivor 46 (CBS) Premieres 2/28/24

Eighteen brand-new castaways are readying themselves for the adventure of a lifetime.

CBS has revealed the names and faces of Survivor‘s upcoming contestants who will fight, scratch and claw their way to the $1 million check and the title of Sole Survivor.

Season 46 premieres Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 8/7c with a two-hour episode; its second episode (airing Wednesday, March 6) will also be two hours, before switching back to 90-minute installments for the remainder of the season. (The Amazing Race will return the following Wednesday, March 13, at 9:30/8:30c; like last season, those episodes will follow suit at 90 minutes apiece.)

Included in the new cast (see photos and details below) are a Las Vegas slot machine salesman, a musician, an aerospace technician, a salon owner, a pair of teachers, a software engineer, a law student and so much more.

Venus might be one of the best looking gals to ever appear on this show. And Ben's hairline is reminding me of a Newsradio era Joe Rogan

I don't get why you guys are going crazy for Venus. She's very mid. I guess we've just gotten used to Survivor casting a bunch of uggos in recent seasons.

Oh god, another season where the casting director trolled a Walmart and picked randos.

Diversity and Inclusion equals boring cast. Can we just go back to putting sociopath nut jobs and soft core porn actors on? It was so much better then.

That's the rule for all CBS reality shows now. 50% Of Talent Must Be BIPOC Amazing Race just seems to cast better than Survivor recently. The most recent Amazing Race casts have been great.

The majority of the cast are teachers, real estate agents, lawyers and people who work in Software, like they are doing the opposite of rando casting. They are going out of their way to find aspirational non confrontational middle and upper middle class people.

Yeah I used to make fun of them, but casts made up primarily of bartenders, yoga instructors, waitresses, and personal trainers (unemployed actors) made for much better seasons.

You need people who don’t know the meaning of the word quit. Or consequences. Or ramifications. Or repercussions. Or ignominy. And once those words are explained to them they need to firmly believe those are words for losers and suckers.

I don't have a problem with them casting real people instead of celebrity wannabes. The show still works for me.

Standby for the DVDTalk Survivor Game coming soon!

They should do a season that has sex offenders vs recovering addicts.

Call the tribes "Chomo" and "Tweek."

"Drop your buffs and put your dick away, Chester."

And instead of rewarding them with food, Jeff can tempt them with meth and hand lotion.

The show has been difficult to watch since S40. There's no drama and tribal councils are all about talking about feelings and the hardships of your life outside Survivor.

If you want to watch real Survivor - check out Australian Survivor. Better host and better players. It's how Survivor US used to be.

There's no way to watch Australian Survivor in the US. The only way to watch it now is to use a VPN. I would buy the seasons if they would let me, but they've made it extremely difficult to watch it.

Yep, get a VPN like Proton that can stream 10play and watch it. It's well worth it.

I would gladly pay a subscription to 10play but they don't charge anything to watch it. It wasn't difficult to create an account and stream all the seasons. Some of the best Survivor I've watched in probably 20 years.

Oooo...didn't know there was an Australian Survivor. We watched the Australian Amazing Race, and it was easily as good as the US one.

I want to say that Probst said on his podcast that since they changed some of the rules/design of the game, they've been looking for more "average" people/players, as opposed to the athletic types that typically made up half a season's cast. They've done better in the ratings the last couple of seasons, so it's unlikely they'll tweak their casting methods until ratings start to drop.

That's interesting to know their ratings have been improving. I had sort of thought this show was on the inevitable downward spiral to eventual cancellation. I don't know anyone that still watches it. Most importantly none of the kids in my family don't even know what it is not that they watch any broadcast TV. Come to think of it, it's really only the other people posting on this forum that I know I can post to who will know what Im talking about with this show anymore. Quite a descent from its peak.

I think they should do a season with nothing but athletic, type-a, alpha-types.

It would be interesting to see how those tribe dynamics would work where everyone on the island thinks they're the natural leader and won't back down.

I miss the season gimmicks. Every season is exactly the same post-Covid. Would really appreciate something new.

Survivor is still very popular. I work at a CBS affiliate. If we have severe weather and have to cut into Survivor or pre-empt it, people freak out. We get hundreds of phone calls complaining about it. Thousands of complaints if you factor in all the Facebook comments. We never look forward to severe weather on Wednesday nights, but if there's a tornado in the viewing area we have to interrupt Survivor.

I want to say I found it years ago on a torrent. I remember I had missed an episode of the US Amazing Race and it was before we had streaming to catch up, so I searched for it online and discovered there were other countries with Amazing Race out there. I think I watched a couple seasons of an Asian one too. They only went to Asian countries, but it was in English and very good.

EDIT: About a year ago they had several of them on the CBS streaming app (before it was Paramount Plus?). They've all vanished though.
