DC area pulling violent games!
I did not see this on here yet so
There was a story on Fox 5 DC news last night
about some stores Wal-Mart and Best Buy
pulling violent video games because of the
sniper. They had footage of Hitman 2
Silent Scope and i think MOHAA.
They said they were pulling a game called
sniper? Sniper: Path of Vengeance which
came out in late sept. i think.
Not sure if they are pulling other games
although they had some wal-mart guy
on tape pulling out all the copies of GTA3.
maybe this was footage from another date.
In a few years I think we are not going to have
violent shootem-up video games anymore.
Or they could be sold only online were you
need a credit card so it would be alot harder for
the 10-17yr old crowd to get them. M rating is 17+
not against the games just my thoughts

I believe all best buys have done that, not sure about wal-mart.
I live in the DC area, and was in Target the other day, and didn't notice anything missing. I know I saw GTA3, not sure about the others though.
So apparently it's just a thing with those 2 chains. It's still lame though.

If Sniper:POV is as horrible as Gamespot says, then I think they're doing people a great service in pulling it - in both good taste and no unfortunate soul will accidently pick it up.

Yeah, I tried to rob a local bank with my Guncon and it didn't go well. Playing Time Crissis does not prepare you for the real world of shooting.
Its a shame that Video Games are taking so much crap for this tragedy. Can't people just be plain crazy anymore?

pathetic... money talks. let's see how long that policy lasts.
i can't believe that 1 psycho f**k is making policy changes... for a few months.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
if the stores had some real conviction, they'd make some ethical policies and then stick to it. does walmart sell guns?

Some moron walks in to Walmart/Best Buy and sees a game with a gun on it. Tells the manager that they will never shop at a store that promotes death when people are dying in the community.
Moron Manager does not know what to do so he pulls all games and emails corporate.
Corporate gets scared and sends out email to all area stores to pull all these games

After becoming part of middle-management(ugh) you quickly learn the phrase CYA (cover your ass). That's all this is, nobody's going to be saved nor would any more others lost their lives because of these actions.

[inbadtaste]Common, if the sniper was a video game playing kid, we all know he would be bunny hopping around the neighborhood scoring head shots.[/inbadtaste]
Edited to add : I'm posting this as my sarcastic comment on how games are again being blamed for the crimes of a middle aged adult with shooting experience.

lol
and shooting crates for powerups
What wouldreally be an ironic twist is that they catch the guy and he doesn't play video games, yet he bought the murder weapon and all the ammunition at his local Walmart.
It really angers me how the US is ready to blame something they have no evidence whatsoever on these killings, yet we know, with %100 certainy that a gun killed these people. Why aren't we pulling guns from the shelves?!

I don't agree with it, but I do agree with tanman. It's the same way we pulled the terrorist figures at KB after 9/11. It wasn't because these toys were the cause of terrorism, it was because they were a sore spot with people all over the nation. I would think that sniper games (and any that might involve that sort of killing ala GTA and Hitman) would have the same effect in the community being terrorized by it.
I think anyone with any intelligence knows it can't possibly be games causing this, including those who made the decisions to pull them. Even the anti-game politicians and outspoken groups know this but conveniently ignore it, and they're really the only ones besides the media (who just wants a contraversial story) that I've seen straight out try to blame games for this.

if it's because of a sore spot, then why do they repeated show clips of GTA3 on the news? It's more than just a sore spot. We need something to blame... and guns are just to sacred.

Young my thoughts exactly, you cant buy a certain game but you can purchase a shotgun or a hunting rifle with SCOPE at Wallmart ,man when will this country get a grip and just face it,violence will never ever end its in are nature to kill, you can take all entertainment away and death will still be here.
