I sent an email asking about the Gamespot bundles, since technically they still do have two available for preorder:

"The still in stock Xbox 360 Omega bundle says in two different places that it ships on 11-22-05. Is that actually true or is that still depending on how many consoles you receive?"

"Dear Customer,
Thank you for writing to us at GameStop.com. As long as Microsoft doesn't push back the release date then you should receive your 360 on the 22nd."

Shit Corvin that sucks if I lived closer I'd be more than happy to stand on line for you since I will be doing it myself anyhow........maybe a fellow DVDtalker from the area can do it for you. Anyhow I think kids need to toughen up a bit these days too much pampering going on........when I was 16 months old I'm pretty sure I already had a full time job how much would it piss somebody off to see a guy with a stack of 360s at checkout anyway that would be classic.

Anyone know if EB or Gamestop will be taking regular Xbox's as trade in and credit towards the 360?

They do, but only give you $60 in credit for the system.

I know GameRush was giving $80 for an XBOX. Not sure what you needed to trade in though (I thought you had to include the controller also)

I have a couple of friends going that offered to pick one up for me. Even offered to bring it by afterwards. Sounds good to me, but my only concern is if they limit it to one per person. No reason for me to believe that, but you never know.

I'm sure they'll all pop up within a matter of a week or so. Looks like the Midwest is getting a majority of them. Good for me, since I'm in MI. (although, not close to the 2 listed there)

Are these all showing up in Wal-Marts or are they in Circuit Cities, EB, Gamestop, etc.?

You can still preorder. Just says out of stock because they're are a preorder. Add it to your cart, you can still check out with it.

And they are OVERCHARGING you. $599 for the premium bundle

$400 + 3 $60 games = $580

Who knows if they even ship the first time around, I thought Godfather was NOT a launch game either. Good luck

Glad I got my GameRush pre-order early

When the PS2 launched, and was in short supply, BB limited sales to one per person... just a FYI. Same with the less limited PSP launch.

Thanks for the heads up. I still think there will be plenty on the shelves, but I might as well give it a shot on launch night since all my friends are going.

Now I just have to find a babysitter on a work night.

Interesting that you guys still feel this way, even though preorders on the 360 have for the most part been closed for awhile now, I'm starting to feel like they may be harder to aquire than many think, I know a guy who works at the BB closest to me that sells me all my anime, I was talking to him about the midnight sale and he said they have kids coming in all the time asking if they can preorder one. I've been wondering about my chances for a while now and at first I wasn't worried but now I am, hell he says he has no Idea how many they are even getting.

The game stores get a lot less consoles than the Best Buys and Wal-marts of the world, thus pre-orders being gone means nothing.

PSP preorders were gone, and look how easy those were to find.

Xbox 360 USB Controller to Go Cross-Platform

By Scott Clark on Thursday 20 October 2005, 3:51 AM

Remember how the Xbox's controller interface was really USB as discovered by a bunch of modders, then hacked on SourceForge to work on Windows XP? Microsoft, seeing the potential of the controller for PC gaming, has decided that the upcoming Xbox 360's controller will use an actual USB port to be used on either the 360 or the PC without chopping it up.

For those not in the know, the Xbox 360 controller sports a plethora of triggers, buttons, 2 analog joysticks, a D-pad, and those pesky black and white buttons are actually done right this time. IGN thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Microsoft will be selling this individually as the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows for $40, including the driver for use on Windows XP. Alternatively, future 360 owners can also pull their own controller (the wired version) from the system and merely download the XP drivers from Windows Update. Apparently the game developers are thrilled at the concept of a cross platform controller, with backing from EA, THQ, Ubisoft, and Vivendi Universal, so expect to see a lot more console ports hitting the PC in the future.

Exactly. You are talking about pre-orders from GameStop, EB and Gamerush. Three small companies compared to Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Target, K-mart, Meijer, and Toys R Us. You could even add in places like FYE, Sam's Club, Coconuts, Costco and a dozen other places that will have some on hand even if it isn't their main business. Just because a couple of "gaming" only companies aren't taking pre-orders anymore means diddly in the scope of things. How many did they allot per store? 20? 30? That is nothing when MS is talking 2 million units by Christmas.

Not trying to sound too harsh, anyway. Or maybe I am too optimistic about MS pulling this off better than Sony did with the PS2.

A month ago I was all gung-ho on getting a 360 but now I'm having second thoughts. Granted it's everything one can ask for and it's a big leap forward I'm getting an uneasy feeling that "things" are being rushed with launch time approaching.

I didn't get an XBox for more than a year after the release and I was glad after hearing "bug" reports. The worry here is with the DVD player and compression within the games. I've read several articles where DEV's are concerned about getting full game content on the disc due to the higher graphic demands. This would not be the case if the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray feud had ended long ago. This is one area the PS3 may have an advantage.

If the DVD format is set be it Blu-Ray or HD by the end of this year it almost seems probable that it would end up in future 360's. Comparing the progress of the current XBox games over the first ones to come out one could see some compression issues in future 360 games if the DVD format stays the same. Besides the current XBox is proven and has a vast note worthy game collection.

I beg to differ on your diddly. small stores, but not small companies:

Estimates are that 800,000 or so 360s will be available at launch.

There are ~2000 GameStops, over 2000 EBGames

4000 x 30 = 120,000

Add in Game Crazy, GameRush, Costco.com, Wal-Mart.com, etc. that have also "sold out" their preorder alotment. One could figure that close to 20% of the initial shipment is already sold. Normally casual gamers don't preorder, mainly "hardcore".

There are :
3300 Wal-Marts
700 Best Buys
3800 K-Mart/Sears
1400 Targets
1200 Toys R Us
add in Costco, Meijers, Fry's, Fred Meyer, etc. there are well over 11,000 retail stores (not including online outlets) to distribute the remaining 640,000+ stock. That averages to about 60 units per stores. Some stores may only see a handful, while others see a couple hundred (Best Buy).

People (casual gamers) will be camping out at Best Buy for the midnight sale along with many other stores. Sure, not every store will sell out, but most will. Then add Black Friday to the mix...good bye 360.

There is one Best Buy, 4 Wal-Marts, 2 Targets and a Fry's within a 20 mile radius of my house (as well as 2 Costcos and a K-Mart, Toys R Us, Sears and a few Fred Meyer), I can almost guaranty that these will sell out. Some of you big city folk may have a never ending supply of stores to track one down in, but smaller cities and towns don't.

One other thing to think about, most of those initial 160,000 or so preorders are for the premium 360. 15% of the initial shipment will be core only 360s. That leaves less than 500,000 premium versions left.

I've already got mine paid for, looking to pick up a second to supplement (read Ebay) my gaming expenses

Yeah, I still think they may be tough....but I think we have to this topic.

I may try to get a second, to sell on EBAY also, but we'll see. Not a big deal to me. So, lets move on about availability.

Anyone picking up a wired 360 controller to use on their PC? Out in stores now! I was thinking about it, then I said, screw that....I don't play games on my PC and I want wireless controllers now.
