Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Well, I FINALLY beat that !)@(# Rich Franklin. He beat me once in about 40 seconds, and then again later on in Round 2. He was TOUGH, and I really had to amp up the points/skills to match him.

Now my choices are Michael Bisping or Anderson Silva. YIKES. (Going w/Bisping first--both tough but that's a no-brainer.)

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Finally tried out online a little tonight. It's great if you love fighting Silva, Lesnar, or St. Pierre (doesn't help that I'm terrible at the game). Also, whether I was host or guest, almost all of the matches were fairly laggy, bleh. Hopefully this "miracle patch" clears things up after the 13th.

Operation Sports has been talking about it for quite a while now, it's hugely speculated over there. No real knowledge of what the patch is going to do ( or if it even exists), but most think it should help with connectivity issues, as well as the disconnecting bastards who won't take their losses like men.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

What difficulty are you guys going through the career at? I'm on advanced, just good enough to usually win the title but still have to fight like hell.

Finished my first run through two nights ago at LHW, ended up 22-13 (I think), could barely crack the top ten, but never be a serious contender for the title (damn you Forrest!).

Did end up with two awesome wars with Rampage to finish out the career, also got the joy of pushing Chuck to .500 for his career (25-25).

As for difficulty, I'm playing on 'Advanced' right now, until I really master take down defense, don't see a way for me to move up, but the game is hella fun none the less.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Wow--last night I beat Michael Bisping, trained for 13 weeks, skipped all promos, and took a shot at the title vs. Anderson "The Spider" Silva--and WON by knockout in the second round. It was awesome, because that guy scares the crap out of me. He kept going for the clinch, knees, etc., but I was able to break free and just keep whaling at him with kicks to the head. Sweet achievement to unlock being ranked #1.

I alternated training and sparring (+ resting), and had kicks/offensive at 70 going in (and of course 100% rested). I'll think I'll try defend the title once (against Dan Henderson) and then retire that guy on top and move to another weight class. Awesome...

I'm loving this game, but one this is frustrating the heck out of me... when initiating a clinch, how do you land ON TOP of the guy? I always throw him down with him on top and he proceeds to get the better position!

Pulling guard can lead to almost instant wins if you're halfway decent at the ground game.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Anybody know what you have to do to get into the Hall Of Fame? I've went through 4 careers. My first one was terrible as I had 14 losses, but in the others I had 5, 2 and 1. I've was the Champ in my last 3 on LHW, WW, and LW. I don't get smack for it. I found that if I work on my the ground game in my boot camps before my striking, I don't get beat. It's just getting to that 2nd Level.

I'm pretty sure for HoF is highly cred-based. I've had fighters with 3 losses make it to the HoF and fighters with 1 loss not. It's usually right around the 100k level of cred that I've made it in more often.

How do you execute that? Is that from being on your back position?

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Is there anything you should be doing from the rear guard position? It seems like i can transition to an open guard to do some pounding or i can start a submission from that position and that is it. I have heard the commentators saying things though that seemed like i was was missing a better rear position to start the submissions. Any idea?

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

God I love to hate this game. It's literally the most addicting yes frustrating games at the same time. I wish I was better at the ground game because right now Im 12-1, ranked #4 but just had my arse handed to me by the #7 ranked guy because he kept getting the open guard position on me. Ugh!!

I literally never blow my cool with games, but this one has me applying hammer fists to my controller after every loss.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

I agree with Rob V - I couldn't put this game down. I created a player and won the light heavyweight title (I'm good at getting out of the clinch and transitioning out of the mount...even when my back gets taken I can elbow my way out of it - very nice realistic touch there).

This game is not repetitive at all and easily the best fighting game ever. The player I created was a striker - I purposely did this to see if I could punch my way to the title and I did - it was tough though as I sacarficed almost all of my sparring points to hit strength.

Dug the Ultor sponsor too - got a good laugh out of that and anyone who has played another little famous game by THQ will too.

I had to retire my player though after winning the belt then losing it to Rampage and then getting beat two times in a row - he was just done :-(

Also, one last thing on the create a player...I made my fighter look freakishly like myself -very creepy but damn that is some in depth player creation.

The load times drive me crazy in this game, scratch that, it's not even really the load times that bother me, it's the slide menus - I don't need to see "game saved" just show me "saving" and that will do.

Not sure if I will ever play through career mode again as I want to start fighting with some of my favorite fighters (Mir, Liddell, Penn, Florian, Anderson Silva, Wanderli, etc....) and master their controls.

Great game, sometimes beyond frustrating but that's what makes it work as well, makes it feel realistic when you're getting your ass kicked.

Alot of you are saying this game is frustrating in a good way. It's not one of those games where you continually lose to someone but it feels like it's "cheating" is it?

No, For me, it's frustrating in a good way beacause of move counters. Basically knowing damn well you shouldn't have done what you did but you did it anyway - also, not taking the time to learn certain moves when you should have as well.

The game never cheated me once (not that I'm aware of anyway).

Completely agree. Sure you will have your occasional Flash KO that surprises you, but if I lose, its my own fault.

Re: New Ultimate Fighting Championship game

Patch upcoming from THQ:

1. We recognize premature match quitting as the biggest online issue and have taken steps to fix it. The Patch will have integrated code that detects who pulls the cable and will assign a Loss as well as a Did Not Finish to that player. The DNF is only counted for the player who executes the disconnection. The DNF rate will be displayed on the fighter selection screen of the Online Ranked Match. When disconnected the Winning Streak is also reset to 0.
2. We've adjusted Ranked Matches to match up players with better connections, which will improve lag issues we've seen to date.
3. We've adjusted the difficulty of performing submissions against AI opponents to improve the balance of subs vs. striking when playing against the AI.
4. We've adjusted the Flash KO rate so that they are less frequent.
5. We've increased maximum number of points awarded in online play from 99,999 to 999,999 and we've increased the Max Level from 100 to 200.
6. We've lowered the Winning Streak Bonus Max from 5 to 3.
7. We've removed the decimal places on the Leaderboard Winning Percentage so we only show whole percentages.
8. We've addressed the CAF cheat so the skill levels in CAF cannot be cheated and increased. Also any CAF with unfair point values will no longer be able to be used Online.
9. For PS3 users we've also fixed a bug that causes a freeze during auto-save; whichever controller was used to Press Start on the Title Screen will be identified as the main controller.

Rest assured our entire team plays A LOT of online matches and we read the boards every day, so we are well aware of the issues. We want to make sure we patch this correctly so it is taking a bit of time, but I can confidently say we'll be releasing this patch soon.

Thank god. I should have about 50-75 more wins than I am currently credited. Maybe people won't be such babies about losing now.

Hopefully they fix the connection issues that cause some games to disconnect through no fault of either player.
