Re: Resident Evil 5

I can't motivate myself to play this game again after I've reached the end. It just feels like a chore. When it's done it's done.

EDIT: Resident Evil 4 that is.

You're just like me in that way.

I guess that solves the question as to whether I'll be getting this.

One of my friends is the same way... he would get nauseous just watching me play a FPS. I'm lucky... I can even play Call of Duty drunk and have no problems.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Does this game not save when you reach a checkpoint? Do you have to finish a whole sub-chapter? I actually got to play some last night but had to quit. I reached and checkpoint and quit but when I went back into the game I was all the way at the beginning of the chapter.

There are two types of checkpoints... some will flash the word 'Checkpoint' and some will flash the word 'Saving'. If it says 'Checkpoint', it is only providing a point you can continue from if you die and choose 'Continue'. If you exit the game it will go back to the last point where it actually said 'Saving'.

Anyone play the DLC for this yet? I think it is ridiculous that you have to pay $5 to unlock something on the disc.

I haven't and probably never will. Huge mistake on Capcom's part, if you ask me.

I'm working on playing through Mercenaries right now, but I really suck at it. It seems like the quickest way to earn points for unlocking stuff though.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Yeah, Capcom really should've waited abit after the release to release that app. Releasing it this close to the launch date just seems like an f u to the fans.

Thank you sir. I guess I will have to set aside some actual time to play to ensure I don't screw myself over. Video games (any hobbies really) and having a wife, a 10 month old, and a full-time job are not a good combination.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Got the Xbox Resident Evil Elite bundle Saturday, and am up to 4-2. Really enjoying the game, not as much as 4, but still a lot. It has some great improvements, like the real-time inventory and item quick switch, but the limited space and not being able to just use healing items hurts the system a little, it forces some terribly timed item management. I don't think it's paced as well as 4 either, and I can really see the level design, it doesn't feel natural. The atmosphere isn't oppressive like 4, but it has it's own intensity that is a good change. Controls have never been an issue in the RE series, and so they aren't here, I quite like them.

Overall it's a great entry into the series. Probably will wind up right behind 4 and ahead of 2. It'll be interesting to see where they go with 6, because they should shake it up again.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Man this game rocks.

Myself and a friend played mercenaries for hours last night.

What a blast.

It doesn't have some of the atmosphere of RE4, but man this game is fun.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I just started this game myself. It's pretty tense -- I"ve never played a RE game before this one.

My one grip is that the targeting is tough --- especially with enemies that are far away.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I will be hard pressed to want to play this game again after I finish it. I'm on Chapter 6-2 and haven't really thought much of the last few levels. It has really good graphics and some cool bosses but the game itself is just not that fun. I had tons more fun playing Mercs 2 than this.

Re: Resident Evil 5

single player i thought the game was good, but not a unique experience. Then I played multi-player and the co-op sold me.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Finished the game last night, from 5-2 to the end I played online co-op. Really fun, but I definitely felt the game started out better than it ended. Although the final area was gorgeous. I intend to replay it a lot, and haven't even touched Mercenaries.

It's right behind 4 in terms of the series, but it's too similar, at times it felt like a remake. It's like T2 compared to The Terminiator. Bigger, prettier, but not as fresh.

Aw, no professional? That's the real shat your pants mode. When you die in one hit every fight is filled with tension.

I am on my third way through and felt the same way you do while playing through my first time. I have really started to like the game alot. I love the weapons and have accumulated a small arsenal which I have been slowly upgrading to their maximum levels. Playing through the second and now third time has been alot of fun. Not as hard due to the fact my weapons are much better starting out in the beginning. Give it another chance.....I still love RE4 but RE5 is a great game also. Cannot wait for RE6.

Finished it yesterday. Loved it, bring on RE6. This is my favorite game [franchise] of all time, I want more!

Re: Resident Evil 5

^^^ Do you have it for Xbox or PS3? I'd play some co-op for the 360.

Add me as a friend.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Yeah, professional is a must. The game is far too easy on the other difficulties, especially if you use unlimited ammo. Even professional is a snap until you get to the levels with armed enemies though.
