I liked RE4 better with the Wiimote unfortunately.

I think this one controls okay. Like DRG said, you're slow-moving -- but then again so is everybody else.

The game I'd like to see for Wii is a REmake of RE2 using the RE4 engine.

Agree on the RE2 thing. Hell, I'd love to see the whole original series get remade in that style. I guess my problem with the RE5 demo is that what seemed revolutionary back on the Gamecube with RE4 now seems slightly archaic, after playing two games that have tweaked RE4-style controls in two very different, but successful ways (RE4 on the Wii and Dead Space).

I also agree with Groucho that the gameplay itself isn't terribly different than the non-Wii RE4 was, and I suppose I should've clarified that. I guess I was just expecting more, after 4 years and a next-gen upgrade. But the heart of my disappointment lies in the setting, which I'm just not into at all. It's starting to feel more like a war game/shooter than survival horror. If I want that I'll go play CoD4.

they need to bring back LEGIT T/G-Virus mutations/zombies THEN itll be a true "Biohazard" game - i mean parasites? come on it was good for one game give us the old stuff back! i really didnt think RE4 was even that scary compared to the previous games, (remake of RE1 on GC being the freakiest with the huge graphical upgrade and gameplay)

I think they should remake two and three and put them both in the same game, since that is when the events happen anyway.

Anyway, I played one part of the demo(Inside the little shack) and didn't like the gun inventory system. Is there anyway to reload faster?

re: RESIDENT EVIL 5 coming Xbox 360 and PS3 March 13, 2009

Resident Evil 5 Demo Premiers On 360 January 26th

http://kotaku.com/5131184/resident-e...0-january-26th

Xbox 360 owners will be getting an early taste of Capcom's Resident Evil 5 come January 26th, when a one-week timed exclusive demo hits Xbox Live.

The demo, much like the one released late last year in Japan, features two levels from the full game, Assembly Place and Shanty Town, allowing 360 owners to play either alone or with a friend via two-player co-op. In addition to the demo, Capcom is also releasing the high-definition trailer from the 2008 Tokyo Game Show on Xbox Live January 16th.

The press release reads that the demo is "available exclusively on Xbox 360 for one week beginning Monday, January 26", which I assume means the PlayStation 3 will be getting the demo a week later. It's an odd sort of phrasing - normally they would just announce the demo coming out and give two separate dates. Still, I suppose PS3 fans have waited this long, another week won't kill them.

I'm not sure what the purpose of a timed demo is. Don't you want to market your game all the time, not just the last week of January?

Screw the demo, I'll be playing SFIV that week until RE5 comes out on the PS3.

I think the demo won't vanish from XBL, but rather will only be available on XBL for the first week. It'll hit PSN after the timed-exclusive window expires.

Which has been, in fact, announced as being 02/05.

The demo is now available on XBL. Anyone had a chance to check it out yet? As a lowly PS3 owner, I have to wait another week.

Re: Resident Evil 5

It's not bad - controls a LOT like 4 did on gamecube (not a bad thing) - although I'd rather have a static (pause) inventory control - or a quicker way to switch weapons (I think there's a hot button but I'm still getting used to the system).

For a demo, I prefer not to get started 1/2 way through the game - frustrating the crap out of me with a ton of enemies and an unfamiliar control scheme isn't going to make me super-enthusiastic about buying the game (see Dead Space demo) - unlike having time and space to pop off a few distance kills without feeling rushed.

That said, once I figured out from the clips that this wasn't actually the very beginning of the game - I can dig it - I'll definitely be picking it up eventually. I'll probably give the other level a shot tomorrow.

One issue is that if your partner gets totally "hammered" (see if it happens to you in the shack) - you're unable to revive them and it ends even if you're in perfect health - I can see that getting really frustrating depending on AI (if playing alone) - but it is nice getting a revive assist like in GoW2.

Re: Resident Evil 5

Dammit! I knew playing RE4 on the Wii would spoil me.

Controlling this game for the 5 or so minutes before I died was a real chore and having tons of enemies on my ass didn't help. It looks amazing but the controls will take some getting use to.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I loved it. Day one purchase for me,but all the Resident Evil's usually are. I got "hammered" (or axed is more like it) in the shack, too. Took me a few tries to finish the level, but I did. It's a bit short, but I guess that's why they have two levels.

Re: Resident Evil 5

This is a good example of a bad demo. Controls were very frustrating. You get dropped into a mid-game level without much instruction. The entire experience consisted of me struggling with the controller for 3-4 minutes while getting my ass kicked and eventually dying.

A good demo can make you run out and buy a game. A bad demo can make you pass. I was going to pre-order, but I'm no longer excited for this title. I'll probably wait for reviews and look for a really good sale price a couple weeks after release.

Agreed, but then I've always found the controls/interface of the RE series frustrating. I'll try it again (maybe on the PS3 since someone mentioned it is coming out for that) and maybe I'll rent it, but this is a game series that has never really clicked for me.

You have to play RE4 on the Wii. I love the series but I could never finish them due to the crap control scheme. RE4 on Wii changed all that and it was the first RE game I ever finished.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I think it looks fanatastic!

That being said...it's going to take me a lot of time to get back into the RE4 playstyle groove. Loved RE4 on the Gamecube, but after doing L4D for the past 2 months, controlling charcters in this game just seems like I'm trying to move through a vat of honey.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I'm probably going to pass. RE4 on the Wii has spoiled the control scheme for me. Clunky controls is not a well-designed mechanic to artifically increase difficulty.

Why don't they just sell the game with tranquilizers if that's their justification for not updating the controls?

I guess I'm the only one that's never had a problem with RE's controls.

Re: Resident Evil 5

I felt the clunky controls worked best in RE4 because of the camera perspective. But I never felt scared because of the controls in previous games. Just frustrated by how counterintuitive they were paired with the static semi-overhead camera angles.
