R6V2 for the 360 will be $39.99 at Fry's on the 20th. Fry's ads can be YMMV, but all ads so far have that price or better. Some papers actually have it listed at 33.99 instead, but that is probably a misprint.

I haven't played any games since just after Christmas, both because of a newborn baby and having nothing of interest to play, but this is going to bring me back to gaming.

I've knocked out the first couple of missions so far. I like the leveling system. Every kill or friendly A.I. kill that you ordered awards you with points. I like the sprint button as well. (Was that in the previous title?) It saved my ass from a variety of grenades and flashbangs. If the story pacing continues, I'd expect to see about 8 to 10 hours of single player campaign on normal difficulty. Maybe less.
For those into achievements, there is a pesky achievement glitch if you have a saved memory file of Rainbow Six Vegas. Basically the game rewards you with 1200 experience right off the bat if you played the previous game. That's great, but it hops over the private first class achievement. Only 10 gamerscore points though.
I'm going to try out some co-op later in the day.

I like to pop in those Xbox forums on rare occasions to tease the masses.
Anyway, I just got in a hour long session of co-op. It's a blast if you have a partner that matches your playstyle, be it Run & Gun or Slow & Tactical. It just as easy to jump into a game as it is in Gears. You can pick the mission, difficulty level, etc. Also the level achievements can be earned entirely in co-op. It's probably the fastest way to rack up experience points as well.

Flay, I think you've talked me into it. I need a fun co-op my best friend and I can play together. We did a lot of terrorist hunt in the first game. If this is better, then it's worth it for me to pick it up; especially at a $39.99 price point. Thanks for the info.

Another little tidbit on co-op is that re-spawning takes 10 seconds and your partner has to continue to live for you to respawn. Otherwise both players will start at the previous checkpoint. Also, the co-op player gets to watch the other player while waiting to respawn.

to carry it over so you don't get hit with the glitch? 1200 exp is only 2 runs
through LVU campus, and while the achievement is a mere 10 points that much
of an exp boost is certainly not worth a 990 instead of a completed roster.
Was that all you got? Any idea if your custom face map carries over aswell,
or do you need to recreate it?

On the R6V2 vids on LIVE I think they've added face mapping to Single player too but I could be wrong.

Closing Comments
As I said previously, the biggest problem that most will have with Vegas 2 is that it doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the first. It doesn’t feel like an expansion pack exactly–-it’s more than that--but it doesn’t feel like a full-fledged sequel either. For those who haven’t taken a stroll down the streets of Sin City than you needn’t look any further than Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those looking for a sequel that surpasses the original in everyway imaginable will be disappointed.

9.0 Presentation
Menu systems are the same as before but everything moves a bit better than before, especially online.
8.0 Graphics
A lot of slowdown, some of it is understandable, other times it’s not. It doesn't run as well as the first Vegas.
8.0 Sound
Identical to what was in the first game in terms of music. Voice acting is definitely improved, especially on the enemies.
8.5 Gameplay
Same mechanics as in the first, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when they’re this good. Sprinting is a plus; the co-op is not.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
Plenty of maps and modes will keep players busy, just so long as they realize that they’ve already been playing this game for awhile.
8.4

Woah thats scary. Maybe thats why the reviews were halted until release.

I went from planning to picking it up today to waiting until a pricedrop after reading the IGN review. Which is a shame, as I was looking forward to it.

I've finished 75% of the single player and only ran into 1 pocket of noticeable slowdown so far; in a bathroom no less. I did run into some connection drops during co-op today, but I couldn't find anyone with a good ping to me. All my connections today were one red dot rather than 3 green dots yesterday. I did get some quality terrorist hunt sessions into the schedule today.
The story is a little flimsy, but there are tie-ins to the previous storyline. For those that pick it up this week, tell me if you spot Cory Feldman in the opening mission.

I dont like any mention of slowdown in games. Its why i dont PC game much anymore and i think for consoles its inexcusable since the developers know the exact hardware specs they are working with as opposed to games for PC.Anyway i still am very interested in this game so i might just hold off an extra few days and keep my eyes on this thread
edit-oh and thanks for all your thoughts on the game Flay, much appreciated
