Quick question about the mic on the 360 version: Do you need to do anything other than plug it in? Mine doesn't seem to be recognized in any of the USB ports or plugged into the hub. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something stupid before I start the return process.

Other than that, I've been having a lot of fun so far. I've just been using the headset while playing guitar or drumming.

You need to have an active controller with it.

Other than that, its just plug it in and it should be fine.

yep, just plug it in, then turn on a 360 controller. It doesn't work unless you have it turned on.

Thanks. I'll have to give that a try tomorrow. My other mission will be to figure out why all of my credit cards are being rejected by the Live Marketplace. I suspect I used some phony info when I signed up for my Hotmail account ages ago and it doesn't mesh with my actual billing info. I'm beginning to think I'm too stupid for modern consoles. My 2600 never stopped me from buying a game.

Looks like I won't be playing Rock band for a while. Just got the E-74 right bottom RED RING tonight. Exactly 1 year and 1 month since I bought it. And it looks like MS will make me pay for the repair since it's not the RROD.

I finally got through Suffragette City on hard. I had posted about how I could not get through it for the life of me a while back. I had tried to play it about five times a day for three or four days in a row, and could never beat it. So, instead of facing defeat yet again, I went and played expert for about nine songs, and while I only got away with three stars on some of them, I did pretty okay for myself.

Today I was doing World Tour Mode with a friend and he had to get a few things done around the house, so I decided to try out my old nemesis Suffragette City on hard again. This time, something clicked and I got the chord changes, which is what had been eluding me. I got through it with about 94% notes hit, and then did the entire next venue straight through without any problems, and five starred Wanted Dead or Alive. Needless to say, I'm feeling very good tonight.

Is it possible to use the MS WIreless headset instead of the Mic or corded Headset?

I'm not entirely sure. I don't see why not, as long as it's still synced up with a controller.

I've used it, but it doesn't seem nearly as accurate as the mic or corded headset. I had better success playing guitar while singing with the mic pressed between my shoulder and side of my head than with the wireless headset.

I've been playing Rock Band a lot lately, and got a bout a half dozen or more of a 'disc read failure' type message, then it sends me back to the Xbox Main Menu. When I'm there, the disc title does not show up where it normally is. Should I be worried? I've started buying stuff with MSP, but mostly Rock Band song packs.

My 360 would never read Rock Band anymore unless I already had it in the console before I turned it on. Only Rock Band though, no other games.

That's what happened when my first 360 died last spring. IIRC, the disc drives aren't much more reliable than the heatsink or whatever causes the RROD?

AKTICK - So what do you think it is? More hardware related? I've done some searching on the web, but nothing concrete so far. Some are saying the drive could be faulty, so I'm concluding to that. I've been keeping my console as cool as possible to avoid the RROD by turning on a portable mini fan every time I have the 360 on.

FYI, Shagrath, the video for The Pretenders song on your DLC post has been removed by the user.

Yeah, I'd say it's probably your DVD drive. Make sure it's not scratching discs, too.

When mine went bad, I could do everything else - chat, play XBL games, download stuff - and since it wasn't recognizing perfectly scratch free discs, I figured it must have been the drive.

I wonder if the lens could have dust buildup on it or something like that?
If so, I wonder if there is a (safe) way to clean that..

I just finished GGaHT on hard (guitar ), then clipped through expert up to the set with Won't get fooled again in it. So far, the only song that I failed (twice) was Celebrity Skin Tomorrow I'm gonna try to finish the drums & vocals on medium...Damn is this a great game!!?

PORIEUX - Hmm, I think you're getting somewhere. I'm going to give that a try. I was just bothered by all the talk of the RROD and I don't want to see my system heading towards that direction.

Either blow some compressed air into the chamber or get one of those lens cleaner kits, which is basically a DVD with a brush glued to the bottom of it.

Has anyone had any experience with a replacement guitar just not shipping? I sent out a request last Friday (priority, or whatever it's called, where they ship you the guitar first), and the UPS tracking has said "Billing Information Received" on 2 day air since Monday. Any thoughts?

No, you shouldn't have to hit them very hard at all, I don't think.

It took them several days to ship my guitar. It sat in the system 10 days before it shipped.
