DLC post updated for this week's songs.

Of note is that Red Tandy is an extended version (over 6 minutes, as opposed to the 2:20 studio version). And of course, the "bullshit fakers" line was censored out of Zero.

I'll totally pre-order that Disturbed album, get the codes, and then cancel. I don't care for Disturbed too much, but they should be interesting to play, at least.

Sweet. I was planning on buying the Disturbed album week of so this is an extra bonus! Wonder if you can just get this deal the day of release in the store and not have to order it online?

So are we thinking that the DLC for 5/6 will include, at least, these 2 new Disturbed songs?

Edit: Actually looked at speedy's thread and I guess the Disturbed CD doesn't come out until 6/3, so it may not directly coincide with the pre-order offer and we might have to hang onto those codes for a while. No biggie.

Or they might be following The Crüe and debuting the singles there a month early.

Either way, I'm going to try getting the songs w/o the CD purchase as well, if possible.

Agreed on both counts. I probably won't bite because it don't like them much, but I really love the idea going forward.

I'm assuming this will be similar to the GH3 Companion CD that came with a code for three exclusive songs. With that, you got a code and had to put it into a GH3 website and it would give you a "prepaid download" code that you could enter in on the 360 (sorry, PS3). At that point, you could start the download of the pack.

Those songs never made it onto the marketplace in any other form. I'm guessing it's going to about the same way this time, as far as how we get the songs. However, I think Harmonix will make them available to all a little bit later down the road. Pre-ordering the album will just give the option to play them a little earlier than everyone else.

I don't really care for Disturbed too much, but will support them (and pretty much any band) that embraces Rock Band with this kind of collaboration.

Better not contain ANY RB1 DLC on that retail disc... I'm sure it won't and I sure would like for the RB1 DLC to work with it, which sounds very possible if it's basically the same thing just with new songs/modes.

Would be nice to have to option to incorporate all of RB1 & RB2 songs into one massive game without switching discs, but that can't happen, I imagine...

What might be nice though is if they offer a best of DLC disc of RB1 tracks around the time RB2 is released. This will give people the chance for DLC without net connections, or a credit card, or who just want a sampling of tracks. By that point, demand for the tracks will be low and will give people the chance of playing DLC on other people's machines.

I read about this EGM rumor a few weeks ago, and I'm going to speculate that it's not entirely true. Harmonix/EA have stated numerous times that they see Rock Band as a "platform", and yearly sequels go completely against that.

I could easily see them releasing an expansion disc (like Oblivion's "Knights of the Nine") to add in some of the most wanted special features, throwing a few songs on there that aren't available as DLC and selling that in stores for $30-40. If they released a new version and the current DLC didn't cross over, it would cause a huge uproar in the community.

Oh Noes! They're milking it! 11010111!!!

The genre is too hot for them to pass up a yearly release. This is EA we're talking about, the only other company that rivals Activision for yearly releases. Why give out features people want(BWT Online, Bass tour, etc) for free as updates when people have proved more than willing to buy retail releases(GH franchise).

I don't mind another disc as long as DLC works. By that time I'll be ready to retire the RB1 setlist anyway.

You can get the DLC announcements on your cell phone via SMS now if you sign up for Twitter. Directions can be found at this link:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39997

A friend of mine signed up last week and got the announcement, just not right away, because they were having problems. I signed up last night, so we'll see what the time difference is between hitting RB.com and getting the text message.

It's a great idea for people who don't have access to a machine at 2pm, but are still eager to know what the songs are. There's about once a month when I have to go to graduation and am sitting there trying to pull up RB.com on my cell phone (which isn't really great for browsing). This will be a whole lot better.

You guys that do an instrument and sing at the same time...I salute you. I decided to give it a go in BWT, and not only is it like a whole new game, it's friggin humbling as hell. I'm terrible! And that's stepping back to medium from Expert Guitar or Hard Drums.

Starting on easy guitar and easy vocals and going up once you reach the fan cap at each level is how I've been doing it. I'm now at hard vocals/hard guitar and I'm having a great time with it. Don't know how much I more I can advance though.

I convinced my brother to give it a whirl and he thought it was a cool idea and had no idea you could do both like that. he got back to me with the same reaction. He hadn't even considered the lyrics at the top while the guitar chart at the bottom. I think it blew his mind. Now he has is 6 year old daughter sing for him.

I stick to Med/Med for all random sets and do hard/hard when I get to choose. Even then I stick to the first 3 tiers of songs.

One of the hardest things I've done was Enter Sandman on hard/hard guitar and vocals. I mistakenly picked a random setlist and figured I'd give it a shot. Started out with Wave of Mutilation and Creep. Then I nearly died when Enter Sandman came up. Managed to make it through though.

Only heard of the first song and I'm not too fond of it, though my kids would probably enjoy it.

I'm a fan of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I've never enjoyed that track. Would have liked Y Control or Gold Lion. Think I'll pass next week.

I decided to continue with the band my wife abandoned since I was right on the verge of getting the jet. So I play a little and get by (all lower tier stuff - med bass/med vox), then decide to go for the plane. When I saw the Iron Maiden factoid screen as the first song loaded, "Aw shit" echoed through my speakers.

Managed to barely pass it, Enter Sandman, and Train Kept a Rollin'. But two shows later, I hit the fan cap. So I guess my double duty days are over until I learn to sing at least.
