Anything is fodder for VG titles: Grey's Anatomy

I wish this was from The Onion, but no...

It’s been a full 12 hours since I heard about this announcement and I still don’t know why it’s happening. That's right kids; ABC and Ubisoft have teamed up to bring Grey’s Anatomy to the Wii, DS and PC sometime this year.

In Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game, players will take control of the doctors from the show and make decisions in their personal and professional lives. Players will get to perform surgeries and hopefully have lots and lots of sex just like in the TV show. Yes, I’m admitting that I’ve watched the show. I watch anything at least a few times. All I really know about Grey’s Anatomy is that it’s about doctors having crazy surgeries and f*cked up personal lives. Which leads me to believe that the game is going to basically be a Western version of Trauma Center.

And now, since I had to write up this story, enjoy a gallery of Katherine Heigl photos!

UBISOFT® SURGICALLY ENHANCES VIDEO GAME PORTFOLIO, ADDING HIT TV SERIES "GREY'S ANATOMY"

SAN FRANCISCO – January 7, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with ABC Studios to develop a video game based on the acclaimed television drama series "Grey's Anatomy." Designed for the Wii(TM), the Nintendo DS(TM) and PC, Grey's Anatomy: The Video Game is scheduled for release early 2009.

"Ubisoft is thrilled to be collaborating with ABC Studios to turn this phenomenal television series into an interactive experience," said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. "In Grey's Anatomy: The Video Game, fans will have a chance to take on the roles of all of their favorite doctors in an all-new original storyline. As each doctor, players will make important personal and professional decisions, explore the direct relationships with each other, and perform the delicate surgeries the series is known for, all through fun and engaging game play."

I don't see how it's any worse than this:

They should just reskin Left 4 Dead but make the Boomer into Bailey, the Smokers into Meredith, the Hunters into Christina and make the witch look like Izzie. I'd love a game where I could kill Meredith and Christina all the time, that would make it even better than the actual show.

So Ubisoft would rather work on this than on the Heroes game they cancelled?

I still shake my head at "Hell's Kitchen" on the Wii.

I mean come on, it's the most "family and retirement home friendly" console out there and they have a game based on the most foul mouthed obnoxious Chef on tv.

While it will probably stink, it's not a horrible way to get more women involved in gaming

I can't wait for the PC mod where you can drop homophobic slurs.

-or-

Purchasers of the game will probably quit Grey's Anatomy sooner than most cast members quit the show.

So I guess this game starts out as a promising game about young surgeons then as the game goes along it becomes less and less about the patients and more and more about having sex with co-workers?
