Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I'm buying Batman at Kmart, getting the $30 gamer credit then picking up Uncharted3 in a few weeks with that credit. To me, that is the best deal.

Too bad that coupon wasn't for more than just the one game ($10 off Uncharted 3 would have been very much appreciated, as would a discount on points or PSN cards)
Of course you also have to factor in the 30+ min it will take you at each trip to Kmart to find someone to pull the game out of the case (assuming it is even in the case in the first place)

My K-Mart has to be told to get their games out of the back. It is like they are saving them for Christmas or trying to avoid selling them so people don't get the coupon. Who wants to make money anyways?

Weird. I've never had that problem at my K-Mart.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I keep reading about all these Kmart issues, but fortunately for me, my local store is open early, helpful and usually have what I need right away (and they all know me there by now ). I did have an issue when I tried to get MvC3 LE : the electronics worker had to go into the back to find the shipment. It took like 20 minutes and made me a few minutes late to work, but I got what I came there for.
The other issue is going during the middle of the day during Christmas season (as opposed to stopping in at 8:00 AM on a Tuesday release date) -- there are always poor folks there trying to buy things on layaway at the electronics counter and that always takes the better part of an eternity.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I have 4 Kmarts around here. Oddly enough, the one in the worst part of town is awesome with a great electronics head. The one in the nicest part of town blows all kinds of chunks. I have to go up front 2-3 times to get someone to come to electronics and help me. The other two are just ok. I don't understand how some of the Kmarts can stay in business with some of the experiences people have.

I guess IGN will have their review up for this tomorrow. Excited to see what they say. Even if they said it sucked, I'd still buy it, though.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Just a heads up.

I have heard that there are bootlegs, leaks, and video walk throughs all over now. I'm not looking at anything Batman related until I finish the game at this point.

Is yours the one on 21st? If so then you must be coming after I show up and tell them to put their new releases out.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

My K-Mart always has the new stuff. I know the guy there, and he sets a new game aside if I let him know I'll be picking it up there. He also gives away all the crap (shirts, stickers, etc) that was never given away with games in the past.

Picking up Dead Island and Shadow of the Colossus/ICO Collection I've had to ask them to get them out of the back. I even had to look around for the right person to find the collection as the fill in couldn't find them. And this was during the late afternoon of the release day for each of these titles.

Which Arkham City platform game version gives BEST 3D on Samsung 3DTV w/3D Glasses?

Hello Gamers! The RELEASE DATE is THIS Tues The 18th of October right??

I see so many great "Pre-Order Deals" for this, but also lots of confusing information as well....

I just want a version of "BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY" that will FULLY utilize my Samsung 3D TV. (With the Samsung 3D Glasses) > Which one is that?!

I THOUGHT this meant I had to get it for PS3, but I see some posts in here saying you can also get the X-BOX 360 version of the game and play it in 3D without a 3DTV -OR- 3D Glasses?!?!? >

----What the HELL is going on here?----

I have $50 in BEST-BUY Rewards certificates saved up. Can someone kindly explain the difference in these game platforms to me, which will work best on my SAMSUNG 3D TV, and which Pre-Order deal is best?

THANKS ALL!

P.S. I can easily turn those rewards certificates into CASH, so I can get it for a cheaper price w/ BETTER rewards at another store? Hmm mmmm ggooood times...

BUT, right now I am just concerned on the BEST version of the game that will give the BEST *3D@ effects on my Samsung with the Samsung 3D Glasses

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Guy who feels like his life is crap, after his Fiance' dumped him.. and he just wants to be cheered up..

OH, on a side note..... she dumped me b/c when I got RUN OVER BY A MINI VAN, walking into a store to buy her engagement ring, I developed an anxiety problem shortly after that, along w/ numerous medical issues.

As some of you already know it's been going on for a bit, but the relationship is all done now. Heart shattered.... Hello I don't know why BMAC:3D will cheer me up... I just hope it will. But it's hard to put a price on cheering up when it involved the girl of your dreams.

Sorry, I am blabbing guys and girls. Just please explain the different version of the 3D games to me? A) Which are 3D and which are not? B) Which Pre-Order Deal is best?

Take care all, and try and have a great day.

and damnit.... does anyone EVEN LIVE in the Delaware/Philly are to go for drinks, or just frigging do whatever..... I gotta get outta the house!

OK, really going now... just wanted to say you've all been great to me these past 3-4 years. Like my own little family. You've given me soooo many great ideas, words of support, uplifting, and ya even helped me get the girl of my dreams.... evem though she's no longer in my life. But you still helped get her for me. Thank you. And I am SINCERELY sorry for the blabbing and belly aching,

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

So the downward spiral continues: it has now been confirmed that the on-disc, single-player Catwoman content will require a one-time use code to unlock (they're not calling it an "online pass" this time since it's not really online content, and since I guess that would underscore the fact that people with offline consoles won't be able to play some of the content they just paid for). Code is included with new copies of the game and is 800 MSP/$10 otherwise.

With the mind-boggling array of pre-order exclusives, the pre-release DLC announcements, and now this kind of thing which I feel uncomfortable supporting in principle even though I'd be buying it new anyway, I'm thinking about just skipping this game completely for now. It's all just such a huge turn-off. Earlier today I was trying to decide where to pre-order and felt like I'd need to do research to figure it out. I don't want to do research just to order a game.

I may just wait and pick up the GOTY with all of the content included in about a year. Or maybe I'll pre-order it and be angry with myself for doing so. I don't know.

The "content code for new games only" is going to get worse before it gets better.

Closing Comments

Batman: Arkham City isn't perfect, but listing the little things I didn't like gets in the way of all the stuff I adored. The voice acting, the challenges, the amazing opening, the unbelievable ending and the feeling of being the Dark Knight -- these are the things that standout looking back. I've beaten this thing twice and still want to call in sick and chase Riddler Trophies.

Batman: Arkham City isn't just better than Batman: Arkham Asylum, it's better than most games on the market.
.

IGN Ratings for Batman: Arkham City (PS3).

9.0

Presentation

I think a few villains deserved more attention than they got here, but the story, the setting and the comic nerd love given to this game are awesome.

8.5

Graphics

Some texture pop-in along with iffy lip syncing, but Arkham City looks great in a totally grimy, filthy way. Got to love Batman's costume breaking down over time.

9.0

Sound

Mark Hamill's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman are out of this world. A bit too much of the same voice actor for generic thugs. Music and sound effects rock.

9.5

Gameplay

I felt like Batman -- that's awesome. The majority of stuff will feel familiar, but from gadgets to gliding it’s been tweaked and improved.

9.5

Lasting Appeal

You need to play the game twice. Then, there are the side missions, the Riddler Challenges, the challenge maps and whatever DLC Rocksteady whips up.

9.5

OVERALL
Amazing

Yeah, it's kind of disgusting how many options there are. Not to mention all of the retailer exclusive skins offered across Europe. It really has turned me off.

That said, there are few things that I get truly excited for these days, and Arkham City is one of them. I don't really buy games MSRP, but I have to get this day one. With that in mind, I just went with Best Buy because the Robin stuff sounds cool to me, so I'm going to take my chances with that. I would go with K-mart if there was any other game coming out that I want, but there isn't. It would be nice if instead of emailing the code, Best Buy just did like Gamestop did with Arkham Asylum and just make every game have the code for the scarecrow maps inside the case.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

Actually, that first bit of information is incorrect. The Catwoman content isn't on the disc, you have to enter a code and wait for it to download.

Also, Gamestop will be offering codes for the content with used copies.

Re: Batman: Arkham City Thread

I havent bought a game on first day release in over 10-15 years. But I will be getting this bad boy.

Whats the catch for the $30 coupon from Kmart? Thats a big chunk of money and well face it, its Kmart. There has to be something in there to screw ya.
