That is incorrect.

If you don't automatically or manually renew you PS+ membership before it expires, you lose all the licensing to the games you have downloaded. Sony's DMR for those titles specifically has the expiration date of your PS+ membership in it.

GWG was the opposite. You could claim titles and if you stopped paying for Live, you still got to keep the game. Now with the removal of the paywall, they went to Sony's model for PS+.

^ Many people have let their PS+ membership lapse, lose their titles, renew their membership, and the titles came back.

Yep, I had PS+ for a year when it first launched, then dropped it, and only picked up back up...last year? I think last year. All the games I had previously claimed were available again.

I just don't play the sports titles like I used to which is the bulk of EAs games. I think I'll pass.

Fuck it. I signed up for a year. Nothing to lose.
Downloading Battlefield 4 now. I'll power through the campaign then give the football and real football games a shot.

Where did you sign up? I can't find it on my Xbox One.

You have to wait for a code from MS or EA. I got mine in a message on Xbox Live.

Ditto. For $30 how can you go wrong? I d/l BF4 and Fifa 14. I figure even if I got one more title between now and next August it was more than worth it.

Signed up for a year. Played a bunch of FIFA last night, which is a statement I've never, ever made.

well, this is certainly a way to give EA money that you might not have ordinarily. i'm sure they are happy about that.

Signed up too.

30+ GB of BF4 downloading. I will probably download Madden and FIFA next. I already have FIFA in disc, but I'm lazy.

The subscription is set to automatically renew, I looked for ways to change that and couldn't find anything, it renews in 8/1/2015, so I will have to remember then if I want to keep it.

I also received the new firmware. I wonder if I can use the web to download games from EA to my Xbox. With this new firmware you are supposed to be able to buy from the Xbox Store(using phone or browser) and it goes directly to your Xbox.

I was expecting to get to try some actual games out, not just the Hub. Kind of like how the PS Now beta was. Oh well. If they add some good games to it in the future, I'll definitely subscribe for $30...great deal.

Side Note: I love how Sony came out today trash talking the service. They just keep on stumbling for their fans.

Right, exactly my thought. In a year, if I feel like I got nothing for my $30, I'll cancel. There's already 3 games I probably wouldn't have paid for individually but will gladly play at this price(and anyone that doesn't pay for Peggle 2 is stupid because Peggle 2 is the greatest thing to grace gamers since Shadowgate. Side note: everyone should be excited about the new Shadowgate). But if this stagnates and we don't see any new additions in 12 months, I'll end my sub. No harm done.

But now I have 18 games on my XO. I think I need one of those external hard drives soon. Seriously considering a 5TB model...

Sony:
“We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect.

PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 percent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”

Sony would rather have you pay $5 to rent a PS1 game for two hours. THAT'S value!

This was the very first thing that came to mind when I decided to d/l Fifa.

I've never played a soccer game in my life but have heard great things about it... I believe my hard drive is already 60% full and I only have a few games.

As an owner of both next-gen consoles, I welcome that Sony isn't going this route with EA... maybe they'll do something else like this with Ubisoft or revise their ridiculous Pay to Play pricing model.

Or, you know, not allow any competition to PS Now.

I wager we're about to see a lot of publisher specific services like this. Some exclusive to one console or another, some on all machines. Things should get interesting.

Yeah, I agree.

What I really want from any of these platforms is a better option for "renting" games. A temporary license for a week at a time that's not crazy overpriced.

I am beyond stunned Ubisoft didn't do it first. They already have that that app linking their games.
