Honestly, the vertical stand is pretty nice. I mean, it's nothing special, but keeping the XBX vertical like that is pretty cool looking and can save space

So how good is the Xbox One S as a 4K blu ray player? I figured for a couple extra bucks why not get the Xbox over a 4K player. I can't test it yet because I haven't upgraded my TV yet. I will around the Super Bowl.

Every UHD BD I've watched on mine has stuttered at least once and usually 2-3 times. (FWIW, the stutters don't recur when I rewind/replay.)
I don't have another UHD BD player to compare it to at the moment (waiting for something that supports Dolby Vision for under $500), so as far as image quality and stuff goes, I can't say for certain. "Good enough" would probably be my short answer, but I don't think it'll be my primary player longterm the way that my PS3 and PS4 have been.

It got me into 4K, but i quickly realized I didnt want to use it as my main player. Its just OK, and the xbox interface is clunky like all game systems. I ended up getting a Samsung 4k.

I haven't experienced any stuttering on my XB1S playing UHD Blu-rays, and I played the entire Planet Earth II set on it.
Also, I use a Logitech Universal remote to control it and the XB1S responds to all the remote keys (play, pause, ff, rew, OK, arrows, etc) like a regular player. It makes it much easier to use than with the controller.

I used to have problem with skipping and lagging playing 4k blu rays, but updating the blu ray app on the S fixed that problem. If your having problems with it make sure the blu ray app itself is updated on the S or X.

I haven't watched a UHD BD on the S in a little over a month, so it's possible that updates since then have cleared up what I was experiencing. (This was a widely reported thing and not just me, by the way.
)
I watched a UHD BD on the XB1X for the first time last night, and while it was a very short movie (Batman and Harley Quinn; don't judge me!), I didn't have any issues there.

I've only put in a few UHD movies on my One X but they seemed ok to me.
I had some skipping on my original Xbox One with regular Blu-rays though too.

I've had my XBox One S for awhile now and no issues for me playing UHD's and playing them on my 4K TV. Looks and sounds fine.

I had a stuttering issue with one a while back when I first got it, but haven’t had any issues with any movie since. It’s a good UHD player IMO.

Is the original media remote discontinued? I don’t see it as available from major retailers. Or if it is, it says it’s unavailvle.

Has there been any mention of GTAV getting X enhancements?

Nothing announced yet. Wikipedia has a good list of announced X enhancements, what we know about them, and whether they've been released and are available.

Thanks. I started it not long before the X released. I guess I will continue on if there's no planned enhancements.
