Leaked Press Release video. It's all scripted talk about the consoles, so fairly low-energy. Nothing particularly new here (thanks to the other leaks!)

I just hope the DV works with my Vizio TV. I would really like movie support and games would be awesome addition. I've come close to buying a stand alone 4k player with DV, because the Xbox One X would only do HDR on movies.

I plan on pre-ordering on the 22nd anyway.

re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

So I just found out my son asked for an Xbox for his birthday (in October), and asked for a One. He doesn't follow the market like I do. Obviously the best thing to do is see if he's OK with a delayed delivery of his present to get one of the new consoles.

I wasn't going to upgrade my One X but I'm happy to get him in on the ground floor of the new gen if he's interested.

S or X?
If you're getting one in in Q42020, which way are you all leaning?

My default inclination is to get the 'most' machine I can get, which also includes the disc drive so he can play his existing 360 games, dvds, and pick up any One games he missed on.

I would definitely get him Game Pass. I'm looking at the All Access plan, it looks like for the X that basically saves 20 bucks over the 2 year period by including Ultimate. (He may or may not care about the PC gaming, but he'd play online with Live.) If my math is right, All Access for the S saves about $60 so a much better deal (for a "lesser" console). Oh, looks like EA Play (whatever that is) is only on Ultimate and Series X (unless that's old text). Then again, I could just buy the console and some prepaid cards - or let his mom buy some of those.
Still, savings are savings, and I think he's a little limited on space, so having one main device including a disk drive would be good.

Looks like the longest prepaid Ultimate deal or card is 3 months?

Since he will be using it for 360 games, I’d go with the Series X since the Series S won’t have the backwards compatibilty enhancements like the One X and Series X.

Isn't video game hardware usually excluded from discounts like that, or is that like a credit card bonus, good on anything?

Not that many, but thank you! Plus this would be for him, I've still got >2 years on mine.

I know it's been a while since people lined up at midnight for launches, but does anyone have a feel on how 'hot' the consoles on launch day will be?

And I've definitely decided for an X. Why not. Better specs, disc drive, and its his birthday. And apparently Smart Delivery is only on X?

Confirmation question: Borderlands 3 was announced to be "Smart Delivery", "letting users who have purchased the title on Xbox One play it on Xbox Series X at no additional cost". I assume/hope that includes both digital version and disc versions, or is this functionality only for all-digital content? Worst case, I guess, even the disk version should be BC.

I can't recall if we've ever bought big ticket items at Target, we'll see if that works this time.

Can we get the launch date added to the title?

Sorry for not wording that well. You didn't miss anything. I made the change after you suggested it.

Right now my Day 1 has been really acting up on me the last few months so figure might as well get a new system.
My vanilla One has been wonky for a few years, so I’m looking at getting the new system to go with my new TV. I can stream 4K on the PS4 Pro but it’d be nice to be able to play discs as well.

Ha! I’ll freely admit that when I was clicking the “Checkout” button at bestbuy.com for an hour straight, I was thinking “well, at least it won’t be like this for the Xbox.”

I've always been jealous of people who waited on a new Xbox console until there was a cool looking Special Edition (I think the first one for the XO was Titanfall). Maybe that will be me this time....

Unless they completely redesign the console, I have a hard time imagining how cool this brick is going to look in different colors...
