Has anyone in Canada been able to find this? Its release was delayed by a month here (to March 24) and still no sign of it anywhere. I've all but given up hope on finding the first pressing with the booklet and slipcover ...

you could try hitting up ebay. the ones that specifically state they have the booklet/slipcase go for more, but you could ask the sellers that don't state so if they have it.

I originally bought this blind and didn't end up liking the movie at all, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't holding onto my copy with the slipcover and booklet to let the aftermarket demand/prices go up before selling it off. This'll never be a difficult title to "flip" so there's not really a downside to waiting...

My 1st pressing is still sealed and while I'd like to watch it...I'll probably just Netflix it. Not an Anime fan. Time to unload this on the eBay

I wonder what those guys that thought 29.99 was too much for this on release week are thinking now.

I paid $12 for this on release... because of Borders. Amazing, I know. ![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm going to sell mine with the fancy slipcover and booklet as I'm strapped for some cash and I can settle for the regular version on Blu-ray later.

it looks like the price of this has gone down on ebay to around $50 or less if you bid on an auction. while the BIN ones are still pretty expensive, there's at least one that is as low as $55.

I was surprised how fast the slipcover version sold out... they seem to be long gone in all stores in Austin. The nonslip version also seems to be in higher quantities than the original release... they had about 20 nonslip versions at Fry's today while on release day there were probably 3.
Honestly though, while the booklet is nice I wouldn't go out of your way for the slipcover... it's just a thin paper slipcover for christssake.![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
That said, I preordered

Just to be clear, the version of this in the black case is OOP now? I saw that at a local movie/music store the other day and may go back for it soon just so I'm able to own that set.

The slipcover version is still available from CDJapan it seems. Might be an alternative for those crazy people considering to spend $100 on a US version, as the Japanese is "only" ~$80+shipping...
It has the slipcover and a grey blu-ray case inside. The booklet is in Japanese however (what a surprise...).

Will the demand for this Highly Limited Blu Ray Set move higher? (Now that Michael Jackson Died).
For info, Akira was one of the featured "ANIME" in the "MOST EXPENSIVE Music Video" made which is "SCREAM" (duet with Janet Jackson)

damn. If I knew it was that special, I'd have bought two copies on release day without hesitation.
I guess my single copy will have to do

This is connected to MJ? In that case, I'll sell mine for only $250 shipped. Hurry, the cultural hysteria of his death won't last forever!
