$18.99 (Monsters Inc.)

$12.49

=$23.48 (for both Up and Monsters Inc.)

Stellar deal.
Ummm, exactly what kind of Obama fuzzy math are you using here. You already made a down payment for $7.50 correct? So you'll owe $12.49 for a total of, wait... $19.99! add that to the after discount price for Monsters Inc. ($10.99) and your total ends up being $30.98 not the $23.48 you claim.

Christ, we're not talking about a couple hundred bucks here. It's 7 dollars and 50 cents... yes, that's pretty meaningless to me. Plus, I got the steelbook... which Best Buy is selling for $15 bucks now.

If you order a movie for $90 (say, Up! on blu-ray) but pay it in monthly installments for a year, we're all wondering if on the 12th month you'll brag about getting the film for $7.50.

As for the steelbook, I was sorely tempted to battle with the manager over that $15 price tag. It explicitly says you get it for FREE with $7.50 deposit (that goes to the movie purchase), yet the manger told me the extra $7.50 was FOR purchasing the steelbook. (That was after he tried to convince me the steelbook info included was manufacturer info and nothing to do with Best Buy. I had to tell him the item was an exclusive to Best Buy and it was a Best Buy promotion.)

Yea, that genius "manager" needs to read the fine print on the back of the case.

I know, right? He was so disagreeable and rude that I shot off a nasty letter to corporate about the store!... Which they promptly ignored. :/

That's great... having to explain a Best Buy promotion to a Best Buy manager

Probably not, no. Doesn't change the fact that that is how much they are selling them for.

Using that so-called logic, if they'd let you pre-pay it in full, then you could go in and pick it up without paying anything. Then you could brag that you got it for free!

Re: Up and Monsters, Inc. deals (Part 2)

revised math (for you touchy folks)

$19.99 (Up - pricematched from BB website)
-$7.50 (I bought the steelbook, and they put the money towards my Up purchase!)
-$10.00 (Up manufacturer's coupon)
=$2.49

then...

$18.99 (Monsters Inc.)
-$8.00 (Disney Manufacturers Coupon)
=$10.99

so,

$2.49
+ 10.99
=$13.48 (for both Up and Monsters Inc.)

Stellar deal.

EDIT: applied the Up $10 manufacturer's coupon!

Point of all this is... I can look at it any way I want. Either way, there are some incredible deals out there for these two releases and we should all be very happy about that.

Re: Up and Monsters, Inc. deals (Part 2)

This just goes to show how much studios and stores overcharge us on movies. Disney is full aware that stores are selling this for $20 and that this coupon will apply thus making it $10. Tell me that when they charge upwards of $40 regularly for this they aren't ripping us off.
