I was rung up as the CS desk, as that was the only register that was open besides electronics. I had no problems. She did think that she had mistakenly rung the MFR coupon twice, but once I told her about the $10 discount for the pre-order card, there was no problem.

I did the whole preorder thing, out the door today for $2.99 + tax, absolutely no problems or hassles.

When I was checking out though, I noticed that they had different Toy Story 3 preorder cards. The one I got, which was out on a display, was the larger card which shows the blu ray only cover art. The ones I saw by the register are much smaller and show the blu ray combo pack art work. The cards were still wrapped up in bundles, in plastic, and I was already in the middle of the transaction when I noticed them. The larger card still says it's for the blu ray combo pack though. Just something to look out for, I guess.

Please share your math on how you managed only this much. Today at the very least you should have paid either 2.99 which meant you also did the $5 pre-order when you got TB. But then you also state you got the $10 gift card which meant you had to pre-order TB in order to do that and that pre-order was $10. So your math seems off or perhaps you mentioned ealrier somewhere that they messed up your order and you got extra discounts? Otherwise you should have more out of pocket, and you just don't realize it.

It's California's tax law (other states have different laws). The tax is calculated on the pre-coupon price, if it's a manufacturer's coupon. If it's a store coupon, then the tax is calculated on the after coupon price (i.e., it's like the item was marked down in store). However, sometimes what looks like a store coupon is actually a manufacturer's coupon: Costco coupons are like that.

My TRU seems to have it down pat. The employee even told the woman at the register to pre-order Toy Story 3 to get in on the deal, and she was astonished that the total was a few bucks and change.

What I don't get is: they keep the Blu Ray cases locked up, to prevent theft (presumably), but the regular DVD case ones have the same content and are the same price and are out in the open... is it that much easier to steal the slightly smaller cases?

Those who didn't do a pre-order, TRU has coupon books out with specific dates to use them. Save $5 on Prince of Persia and TinkerBell 3. Save $6 on Camp Rock 2 and Beauty & the Beast. Buy the Blu-ray or Dvd Combo sets for the title or any other Disney BD or DVD $14.99 or higher. Expires 10/30/10

Save $8 on any 2 Disney or Pixar BD or DVD. Expires 10/30/10


More coupons to use later are valid from movie's release date and expires 12/31/10.

Save $3 on Toy Story 3, Mater's Tall Tales, Santa Paws, Fantasia and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Save $5 on A Christmas Carol.


Buy an extra pack of batteries and use the B&tB $6 to get more off. I'll be using the TS3 $3 coupon with the $10 Disney online one, won't have to use the whole gift card.

I didn't preorder B&B but am doing 2 preorders for TS3 & buying 2 B&B. Can I use a $6 coupon, once I make a purchase to get one, with one of my B&B to bring the cost down from $7.99 to $1.99 or can all those be combined?

No problems for me today, in and out for $2.99 with combo pack and pre-order. Interesting that there was no tax on that, as others have commented.

I paid cash, as I was saving my gift card for TS3, but if that's the same $22.99, a balance will remain.

In my store, it was where the regular DVDs are and you are supposed to only get it if you buy a Disney DVD.

Those of you who are getting it for $2.99 (I did as well), are you not counting the $5 you spent on the pre-order card as part of your final total? I'm just a little confused, as I don't see how anybody technically only spent $2.99 PERIOD.

If they preordered BatB and now preordering TS3 they wash each other out, thus leading to 2.99 before taxes. Edited to add: Eventually that will catch up with the TS3 purchase.

My Toys R Us ran out of preorders, so they started making their own preorder cards for TS3, which was a bit of a luckout for me

I'm not sure how others are counting but I got mine like so:

$4.99 - purchased A Bug's Life ($19.99 - $5 TRU coupon - $10 BATB pre-order)
$9.99 - total for A Bug's Life

10/5
$2.99 - picked up BATB ($22.99 - $5 deposit - $5 TS3 pre-order net gain - $10 manufacturer's coupon)
$2.99 - total for BATB

So, either BATB is $2.99 and A Bug's Life is $9.99 or BATB is $7.99 and A Bug's Life is $4.99. Any way you shake it, though, the total out of pocket for these two was $12.98.

everyone better get on the deal this week ....i went to 1 toys r us and they were out of pre-orders called another which was also out and called a babies r us which was also out.

finally found one that had TONS of pre-order slips

I can do you one better than that. My TRU had the cardboard sleeves in the plastic cases. I had to check out in the R Zone, where they then unlocked the cardboard sleeve from it's case, and unlocked the BD which was stored behind the counter. I can understand people stealing the BD, but the sleeve?!?!?

Maybe if they bought it at Target they would want to steal the sleeve there, since the dumbasses at Target seem to throw theirs away to fit the blu in the case. lol: I wish Target would actually do that instead of throwing away the sleeves for people who actually want it. Blus like Transformers look odd without the sleeves.
