The problem is probably associated with the, often, teen employees who don't get paid enough to double-check.

Still, I've been buying books from them recently, taking advantage of the 30% off and free shipping deals they had. They got all of those right, at least!
You exactly right. There is a Hasting store not too far from my work and I often go there at lunch time. Once I did see one of the (teenage) salesperson, with stack of packing lists in one hand (the same one goes in each package,) picking out DVD one by one form the display rack. I don't know if they verified with bar-code, but it really depends on luck if ordering one of those titles with tons of re-releases / different edition,

They screwed up two books for me in the last two orders, one was a different version, and one was completely different.

www.gohastings.com is smart for shipping internet product out of b&m stores. I always felt that if hollywood and blockbuster would have followed this practice, they both would still be in business. I really like the company model they follow. Sure, there are hickups we have to deal with but everytime i had an issue with GH they resolved it by giving me the damaged product free or reducing the cost if case broken, etc. I will always follow smart business practices because I can count on those guys being there for me in the future.

Felcher, way too many hiccups. It's a hiccup fit, in fact. They're one of the few companies I am always on the edge about shopping with because of how horrible they can be. In fact, only HOllywoodvideo.com was worse.

They do have very good customer service, but the point is to get it right the first time.

The last 3 orders I received something was either the wrong version or something different entirely.

Yeah, I like gohastings...but you really have to use them with a major sense of what you are getting into.

I have made alot of money on GH product. While the Tron craze was on, I was able to get a 20th ann. issue used for 7.00 shipped. Sold that quick for 22.00. They have sent me numerous orders with sealed product @ used prices. If you are seeking perfection, pay more for product to ensure you get the right product.

My expectation of the product condition is definitely lowered when the price is so low, and like you I am often impressed by the condition. However, when they give you the option to pick which version of a title to get, and they send the wrong version or wrong title altogether is not acceptable.

Bingo.

Just cause an item is used doesn't mean they should ship you the wrong thing.

You know how many times I've had to call their CSRs, and six packs of beer I've had to buy to drown my sorrow in the last four years? Easily a dozen or more times. That's ridiculous. Compare that to Amazon's twice in 10 years.

There's no anger at all, it's just a mild inconvenience for me. I said in a prior post their customer service is pretty good. Their shipping practices and methods leave a lot to be desired though. I still order from them and expect a wrong title or two.

Right. I watch the item and get rid of it. I pick the movies with the best resale, watch it and sell it. I have 10 dvds to my name. Thanks to www.dvdtalk.com I have basically broke even or are ahead a little. I don't like clutter.

Bachmelle, thank you for posting the deal.

I wound up with a used Blu of QUO VADIS at about $8.00 shipped.

Also picked up some cheap SD titles, none over $3.00 shipped. But some of the latter were public domain titles, so let's see if they actually send the ones pictured or ones from an inferior company. That's happened to me before.

Thanks! I picked up a regular DVD for 1.44 shipped (off to take back the same dvd to Ross that I paid 3.99 before tax for). Either my blu wants were still too high a price or were out of stock. Oh, well - maybe next time.

That's probably their weakest weekly deal yet.

New code: SOCIALMANIA

Appears to be 30% off used DVD's, CD's and Video Games, and 20% off used Blurays.

Picked up Battlestar Galactica Complete Series Blu for $67, The Pacific Blu for $29, and Men In Black Blu for $9.

Good deals on the 1st 2, but realize that MIB can be had for $5 at Best Buy this week with the trade-in program.

Thanks, forgot about that program. Oh well, I can't stand dealing with Best Buy on many of their "promotions", so no biggie anyway.

Don't forget MAYDAY96 $0.96/item shipping (expires today). It will depend on how many items you have whether that or SOCIALMANIA will be better.

It doesn't matter how many items you have in your order. If the blu-ray is less than $6.60 ($4.40 for dvd), then you use MAYDAY96.
