I think the error that keeps coming up is the error of my reasoning in continuing to patronize this place. Lately I am batting zero with them.
Yeah, I was trying to buy The Sarah Silverman Program 1 & 2 last night for a few hours, but kept getting the errors. Luckily I guess the demand for that show isn't too high, because it was still in stock when I woke up today and I was able to get it.

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Turns out my first order went through even though I got the error page and no confirmation e mail. I called them today to find out what's going on and the CSR told me they have had hundreds of calls today from irate customers who kept getting the error page. She said they have no idea what caused the glitch.

Its a routine affair...the same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago...error on the order submit page however every repeat attempt was recorded as a successful order...ended up getting 3 of the same titles.

Very good experience with gohastings this week. Ordered several titles with the SPOOKY sale and they all came within 3 days in great shape.

Best find was Cinderella Blu for under $7 (it's listed as DVD on the site, because it's the DVD size case, but did indeed come with both discs)

I've received most of my last order (51 items including 12 box sets) and most are in good condition. 1 box set is chewed up and 3 DVDs are in bad shape, so I'll make a call tomorrow for a refund.

Wow. DVD Talk is so dead lately that nobody has mentioned a slightly better deal than the current weekly deal: 30% off movies, 20% off games (except PV ones) and free shipping... SHIPTWEET.

It probably doesn't matter, though, as I guess everyone is over at that other site named after the format of this forum. Don't know why it's so quiet here.

Code didn't work on new titles for me. Everything I want from them used is out of stock.

Must be trying to track what site is driving folks to their page. The code according to their facebook page is SHIPFACE. 30% on used titles with free shipping.

Thanks! Picked up a couple of used BD titles that I had waiting in my cart for a good promotion.

Yep. A good sale doesn't matter much if you can't get anything.

You're right. I forgot to mention the code is only for used stuff. I guess I assumed everyone knew that. I've never been aware of any sales that work on new items, but they may exist. I forget that people sometimes buy things new at Gohastings since I only use them for used stuff. They are basically an online FYE with much better prices.

I didn't order much, but I got a few cheap things where not having to pay shipping made a difference.

They have actually had sales that included new items as well. They've been the ones where it is 5 off 25 and 10 off sales that have at times included new items as part of the sale.

The free shipping codes are best used on the very cheap items. It's practically an extra 50% off the total cost of a $2 item.

Yea, I was hoping since you didn't mention it that it included new items. They haven't had much stock on anything I've wanted the last month or so.

Eh, I sorta gave up after the fifth or sixth noteworthy sale in a row where there wasn't anything in-stock that I needed. Gets frustrating.

Thanks for the code, Manzana - got a bunch of artsy titles after you posted this code. my Blu collection on a dime continues, however much anyone disparages GoHastings :-)

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Just curious, are there ever price mistakes on gohastings? I ordered something for less than $5 that usually MSRPs higher than that. Anyway, it is up to $21 used. Oh well, it shipped anyway.

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I think different people in different stores add and price items to the site which accounts for different prices on the same items. I'm sure they have guidelines they all must follow, but I have often seen such wide discrepancies that pricing must be coming from a variety of sources.

Thanks also to Manzana for the new code. Too bad the 40 items on my Wishlist are perpetually out of stock or don't qualify.

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I assume everyone has a wishlist at Gohastings.com to make it easier to check. For a while I didn't do that, but even though it's many pages long it's much easier to scroll through that looking for the buy button. I agree, the vast majority of titles on my list are perpetually OOS, but they keep changing prices so other new ones drop cheap enough... such as The Dilemma PV BD for $1.40. Those aren't in my wishlist, of course.

Regarding price mistakes, I don't know about that, but I know that people have posted prices of $7-$8 on a particular title, for instance a 3D BD, and when I look an hour later it's showing normal price (more than double that), so I think they have random small batches at different prices, but I don't think they are price mistakes. If you get lucky (which I rarely do) you might catch such a title at a low price. I don't have time to monitor my wishlist constantly, so I rely on checking the Gohastings threads once or twice a day. Was the 3 for $21 used sale a couple months ago a price mistake? I don't know. They probably didn't intend it to apply to $24.99 3D BDs, but I sure hope if they have another 3 for $21 that it does because my wishlist is mostly full of 3D BDs that are normally too expensive.

There's no sale for this week, but rumor has it that they'll do a 1 day sale for Halloween. I suggest anyone waiting for the latest sale keep an eye out for the latest Gohastings thread on Blu-ray dot com around 1 AM EST on Sunday morning or on a holiday. Nothing against this site, but it's pretty dead compared to the other. The same thing happened with Slickdeals overtaking Fatwallet for some reason.

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

If someone happens to be awake at 3 AM EST, that is when GoHastings replenishes their online stock inventory on a daily basis. Most of the college kids on the West coast are staying up and ordering as soon as BDs get in stock at that time, which is why the hot items never seem to be available by morning.
