The reason I would ask when the sale ends is that there's always confusion when it says "ends July 17th". Does that mean at the first moment of Saturday July 17th (12:01 AM Saturday morning) or at 11:59 PM Saturday night, CST? While not 100% clear, from these threads it sounds like it's Saturday night.

I know on other DDD sales that they have sometimes ended them a couple hours earlier, so I'll assume Saturday night 9 PM CST is the cutoff in case I think of some other stuff. I decided just to get the first 3 seasons of The Dead Zone. I'll save the 4th season for later.

I'm still having trouble pulling the trigger on The X-Files even at $22.28 x 9. It adds up fast. I haven't checked reviews of the new packaging, but I'm assuming this is exactly the same as the previous release (disc contents) other than the bonus DVD is missing in each season and it's in a digipack? As I recall, most seasons were 6 discs (4 episodes per disc), so these are 5 disc digipacks? If they hadn't taken away each bonus DVD, then it would be a little easier to pull the trigger now.

Am I missing something here? You want it to be cheaper, so you're going to pay $2 more somewhere else?

Exactly! I remember last time the sale either ended a couple of hours before midnight Central time or it was a couple of hours after. I just remember that it wasn't midnight and either way, I remember seeing people posting their complaints. Just order what you want now and if you think of something else before the sale ends, place another one, it's free shipping.

- DDD doesn't get hacked "easily" so your credit card is safe. Been doing business with them for over 3 years and had no problems in that area.

- Order now. If you forget something put that on your Wishlist and pick it up in November. My wishlist is insanely huge already.

They are 6 disc sets or atleast the one's I've looked at. My roommate has 1-5 and it's pretty decent packaging. I have no clue how people are going "This just isn't a good enough deal for us!".... 7 months ago X-files ran close to $100 per season and $80 on the low end. Would you like them to jack it back up, put it in old packaging, and give you that extra dvd for the extra $60?

If the answer is "no" then order them. $200 for the entire set + movie is a fantastic deal. I couldn't pass that up.

I take it to mean that he'll hold off and see if he can find it cheaper than DDD, but worse case, he can get it at DVD Planet for $2 more at anytime.

Wasn't there a sale a while back that went past midnight and all the way into mid-day the next day?

I remember going to bed thinking it would be over, and instead seeing a bunch of people who went ahead and placed more "bonus" orders.

(Go ahead and place your orders in the next 24 hours. Do not wait until the end, or else you'll be left posting about how DDD did you wrong once you realize you screwed up and don't want to admit you screwed up.)

I think that happened with the b1g1 sony sets. I remember ordering the rest of the Stargate sets I needed, taking the sales extension as I sign that I should.

So are the Buffy Slimline sets good for $18.36 each (Nevermind season 1, that can be cheaper elsewhere) But $18.36 doesn't sound to bad for the others shipped. I had the complete collection but got rid of it because even tho the packaging looked cool, I think the slimline cases are WAY more durable.
Thanks!

Makes some sense. Especially if DDD does another Criterion sale like the last one they did.

I've already spent $130 and I plan on getting the Alien Quadrilogy. I've probably spent more than I've planned to. $2 difference down the line is no big deal. I might find it even cheaper along the way, you never know.

Thanks for the info on the sets. One simple reason for my hesitation: DVD prices have been dropping so much lately that it seems possible these could be cheaper soon. I've pulled the trigger on many $4.88 DVDs at Walmart thinking they couldn't get any cheaper only to see them for $3.88 at Walmart a few months later (just long enough I can't return the old ones) or even $3.44 on Black Friday. Seeing TV season sets for $17-$20 at Sam's Club or Costco is becoming more common. Why couldn't the X-Files be $17.88 per season at Sam's Club before the end of the year?

Also, I'm so backlogged with other stuff to watch. Hopefully I'll have Saturday to think about it some more as I may change my mind and buy all of The X-Files.

Don't hesistate on The X-Files if you like them. Amazing deal per season. I remember paying $80 each for 1-6 and thinking it was a good deal.

I'd like those X-Files sets, I really would. The only reason that I haven't thought about buying them is because I fully expect a big special box set with all seasons included.

$1 isn't that big of deal to me. And these just started coming out. This may be the best price we get for awhile. If it goes down more - meh. Still got a great deal on it. You don't seem to want to spend the money on so don't.

Buffy for that price is pretty good. I picked up the LE box when it came out. Only a few episodes in season 2... and it apperently goes downhill from there but its Weddon. Worth it just for that, imo.

I wish Angel would drop. *grumbles*

Yeah, I don't think I could complain with the Buffy sets being $18.36 shipped. Even if the price drops, it's a good deal, and I do like the slimline cases.

Placed my final two orders:

HIGH TENSION 1 $7.37
SHAUN OF THE DEAD 1 $7.48

and I cracked under pressure for the Alien Quadrilogy, even though I have never seen a minute of any of those films. It was actually the fact that it's not currently in stock that made me break down and order it - because my credit card won't get charged until it's in stock. Eh, what the hell - why not.

In my eyes there was never a 4th Alien movie. So, I have the trilogy and will only ever have the trilogy. So, the first 3 movies are great. I should really sit down and watch the new cuts, they are supposed to be even better.

I just saw it again a few months ago and it wasn't quie as good as I remembered. I'd recommend it but not to everyone. I just checked the price and it's only $4 so yeah, I'd receommend it for that price.

Keep in mind that I'm not recommending this film... but for anyone who's interested, it looks like they just dropped the price to the Mysterious Island miniseries:

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemid=PLT043619

It's now under five bucks with the discount.
