I was in The Tustin Tower..inventory is starting to defintely wear thin and to think in amazement how much stuff has been sold at higher then everyday internet prices..
I did buy 5 cds on the buy 4 get one free as wanted to walk away with something..
there are some less popular Crterion titles and other stuff that collectors would want and Joe Public would not buy at 90% off I think..hehe

Went to Tower today, and there were still a lot of pop/rock CDs @ 40% off. Picked up two Beastie Boys CDs at 70% off...$8 total. I'm still waiting for the others to go to about 60-70% off before picking up anything else.

Tower here in Fresno still has a lot of stuff. Lots of stuff I thought by now would have soild they still have. The good thing is that the local news let the cat out of the bag that Rasputin Music is going into the old building once Tower closes up shop.

There was a short feature in the Brea/La Habra, CA, community paper that interviewed someone associated with the city's downtown. He said it was up to the liquidator to decide what would fill Tower's place (it's a beautiful building that anchors the Brea downtown shopping/dining district) and he had no idea what the liquidator would do. He did say that PF Chang's expressed interest, but that was as much as he knew.

What's the additional 20% Off for? Is it a coupon?

The Tower in Alexandria has pop/rock CDs at 50% off now. Everything else looked about the same.

Dallas Tower is 50% off pop/rock/R&B and import CDs, 70% off rap and singles CDs, and 40% off DVDs. There's still a lot of stock left.

Does anyone know how long these sales might last and to what % off the DVDs/CDs will get to? Sam Goody/Suncoast went up to 80% off if I recall right.

I hear from workers in the DC area that stores will be open through mid to late Dec. I expect clearance prices to rise to 90% off on the final day (such as Suncoast)...

Unless you're into buying just about anything that's out there, getting there the first day of 60% (or 70% if you can hold out long enough) would ensure getting the best stuff at the cheapest price...otherwise that stuff is going to be gone like neck bone.

I remember when the Wherehouse in my college town hit 80% off there was nothing left but crap...literally. This was a shitty store.

it will be hard to get any good deals for cheap as liquidators/resellers swoop in prearranged to buy tons of stock. I was at a wherehouse late in day when everything was 90% off and one guy had like 6 shopping carts full with "all" the new/sealed cds left in store...I don't see Tower having anything left by the time it is 60% or maybe 70% as it is Christmas and everyone will be snagging stuff for gifts..

Still a joke. CD's and DVD's seem forever stuck at 40% off (this is for the Laguna Hills and Tustin locations). I assume the others are about the same. I'll be near the Brea store tomorrow afternoon so I may go one final time. They had a huge selection of books and I may still find a good deal or two there. I think I've purchased two titles from there since the clearance began. I'd rather do my bargain hunting online than drive all over the place in SoCal traffic.

I just bought 22 CDs at the Tustin store Monday night. They were still at 40% off, although they had a special that night to take an additional 20% off, so that made the total discount about 48%. Now just 3 days later and they're at 50%! Bastards!

I'm going to hit the Laguna Hills, Costa Mesa, Tustin and Buena Park stores this Saturday.

Stamford, CT store has 70% off rap cd's, 50% off all other cd's and all other merchandise. DVD's are 40% off, but hardly anything left.

Tons of decent CD's left.

Yup. I stopped at the Laguna Hills store yesterday at lunchtime and it was at 40%; I then hit the Tustin store on the way home after work and saw the 50%. After a quick stroll, I couldn't find a single thing I would consider buying. Everything that was on my potential list has already been sold out. I'm checking out the Brea store one final time later today.

Hawaii (Oahu) Residents:

I hit the Kahala Mall Tower last night. It's the same deal everybody else has been posting: 50% off CD's, 40% off DVD's, 70% off Hip-Hop/Rap CD's, 90% off magazines. I looked through all the CD's. There's still some decent stuff, but it's definitely getting thin. I picked up the Bob Dylan Essential Collection for $13.54, but I didn't really find anything else that grabbed me. There were a few others that I wouldn't mind picking up if the discount gets to 70% (assuming they're still around by that point). I didn't really scour the DVD's, but I did look through the International section. There are still a lot of great Criterions and the like, but at 40% off full MSRP, they're really no cheaper than standard online prices (and worse when you factor in all the various holiday sales and promotions running right now).

I don't get why hip-hop is 70% off and the rest only 50%.

The Laguna Hills store was just okay; Tustin is starting to look REALLY empty now, but at least the staff is continuing to consolidate the selection and keep it neat and alphabtized. Brea still has a good selection of books, but nothing WOWED me in terms of music selection. The Buena Park store has a large footprint and seems to still have a decent selection of titles, both CD and DVD. Keep in mind I haven't been there for a week, and at those discounts, alot can change in a short period of time. Hope that helps you.
