NoHo NYC store is still 60% + 10% or an actual 64% off list price for DVDs and I couldn't find anything I wanted but there were a lot of people who did find something to buy. All sections looked well picked over compared to just a couple days earlier- looked like they sold at least 40% of their DVDs in 3 days.
Music cassettes are now 1 cent each- slim pickings left at that price.

Keep the updates coming, my original post is updated now. It looks like all stores will be closed by Friday, with most stores closing Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anyone have any updates on the San Francisco/Bay Area store closing dates?

The King of Prussia, PA store closed several weeks ago (I think around Nov. 19 -- I remember being there on a Friday in November and seeing a sign saying that Sunday at 7pm was the final closing).

Fresno , CA / 5611 North Blackstone --closes on Friday
Word around town is that Rasputin Music is going in late January since Tower is closing this Friday. Reps from Rasputin were in the store last Friday buying up some stuff for the store, and they were putting up posters that Rasputin was coming soon.

I just called the Las Vegas store and they're closing on Thursday, 12/21.

Wouldn't you know it, I'll be in Vegas 12/22-12/24. I'll miss that store, it was always an out-of-the-way stop of mine whenever I was in Vegas.

Went to the Buena Park store 12/10 (50%) and 12/16 (70%). Picked up the following:

Title--------------------Label---------Price Paid-----% Off
SLACKER-------------------CRITERION-----$20.00----49.94%
TOUT VA BIEN--------------CRITERION-----$15.00----49.92%
L'ECLISSE (THE ECLIPSE)----CRITERION-----$20.00----49.94%
F FOR FAKE-----------------CRITERION-----$20.00----49.94%
NAKED----------------------CRITERION-----$20.00----49.94%
WAGES OF FEAR, THE-------CRITERION-----$20.00-----49.94%
RED BEARD------------------CRITERION-----$20.00----49.94%
BURDEN OF DREAMS---------CRITERION-----$12.00-----69.96%
AN ANGEL AT MY TABLE-----CRITERION-----$12.00-----69.96%
SARABAND------------------SONY----------$6.00-----79.97%
FASSBINDER'S BRD TRILOGY-CRITERION-----$24.00-----69.98%
KILL!-----------------------CRITERION------$9.00-----69.95%
BROWNING VERSION, THE---CRITERION------$9.00-----69.95%
MEMORY OF A KILLER, THE--SONY-----------$6.00---75.96%

Not the greatest deal on the 50% CC's, but I wasn't sure how low the discount would go and how long the selection would last - but, 50% is still better than DVDPlanet (usually 35% off) which is also in my area. My biggest mistake was not checking the store out everyday, because in 5 days it went from 50% off to 70% off - DOH!. And, there were many other Criterions I saw that I wanted to pick up if the discount got lower.

Now, I wonder how long Virgin will last. Like Tower, Virgin is basically list price - I don't how these guys have lasted so long.

Still, kinda sad about Tower. I pretty much grew up there in the Vinyl (and cassette) days.

Oh, I think Buena Park's last day will be tomorrow 12/20.

Made my last trip to Tower Lincoln Center (1961 Broadway) today . Sign says last 3 days so I guess that means Thursday. Everything is at least 80% off. I actual found a couple of DVDs.

Tropical Heat Season 1 (aka Sweating Bullets) (This was on CBS as part of Crime Time after Primetime before Letterman was on CBS ) $4 for 22 episodes.

Last American Hero ( Jeff Bridges) $3

RIP Tower Records 1964 - 2006.

I updated the list again; strange that the Buena Park store wasn't even in their list of stores.

Please be specific about the store locations when providing closing dates - I have not been everywhere in the country so I don't what the address is for say "lincoln center" or "harvard square" off the top of my head.

Stopped by the 102nd store in Portland this morning. Today is the last day and everything (not much) left was 90% off. There was a guy there that got all the Captain & Tennille (like 12 copies) and the rest of the Tony Orlando & Dawn. Guess we know what he is giving for Christmas this year

They still had 4 or 5 copies of Strong Medicine though.

They also had Captain & Tennille and Tony Orlando & Dawn the last day at both Arizona locations. I recognized a lot of DVD titles that Hollywood Video sells used for $6 ($3 during a B1G1F sale).

Was in Sherman Oaks and Sunset store over the weekend. There's not a lot left at either. My friend looked thru the CDs and didn't find much, I looked thru the DVDs. Sunset still had a lot of music DVDs, but it was people and groups I've never heard of. Sunset also had more DVDs than S.O., but mostly obscure titles. The only TV box set left was Strong Medicine.

Stopped by the Tustin Tower again, to pick up some Tower Records card holders, as mementos. DVDs and CDs were $1.99 each, they closed today 10/19. As I was walking in, I saw a guy with a basket of CD/DVDs including at least 2 Criterions at the top!!

The guy must have stashed them well:\ I clearly saw "An Angel at My Table" and another Criterion,...wasn't sure but could see the distinctive Criterion black background text on the top plastic wrap when he was checking out.

When I was in the Fresno store on Friday they still had one or two copys of Bad Timing *which I picked one up for $10*, The BRD Trilogy, Fanny and Alexander, An Angel At My Table, Masculin Feminin, The Browning Version, Yi Yi, and one copy of the Rebel Samurai box set left.
