Well figures that I quit coming in this thread for a while and new stuff pops up that I want. I am heading out to the area biglots in the next couple of days to look what I can find so can anyone tell me if the old batman serial you all picked up are in the cardboard sleeves or regular dvd cases? thanks!!

Thanks for the info! I have not been out to my local BL's in a while now but I always had a tendancy to skip over the ones in the cardboard sleeves. I hope I don't miss out on some good things by doing that as my BL's seem to always have tons if the cardboard sleeve ones.

This sale at DD sums up all the Sony titles we've been getting at BL for months for much cheaper!
The studio is also featured in the current Oldies.com print catalog (and online, I presume), offering "over 150 titles". The usual $2-$3 titles we've found at Big Lots are $5.95 or 5/$25 there. What's interesting is the appearance of Columbia/Tri-Star Television box sets in this sale, mostly 1st season. TJ Hooker, Police Woman, Fantasy Island at $19.99 is ok, but what would they cost at BL? Keep your eyes open.

Well I only had time to hit 2 of my local BL's this evening and did not find the Batman serial but I did pick up these:
The Wild Bunch Original Director's Cut $4.00
Flash Gordon The Dominion of Ming 12 episodes (I love these with Buster Crabbe!) (vintage movie classics -hopefully there is not a watermark on the screen constantly) it is in a very nice slipcover with a fold out front $2.99
Monty Python's and now for something completly different $3.00
and a couple of Anime
Outlaw Star 8 episodes on 2 discs (19-26) $3.00
Cowboy Bebop 3rd session $3.00

These have all already been talked about in this thread I imagine but hey I am late to getting in on the biglots fun but am really wanting to join in!

Sorry about the wrong title on the Stephen King DVD

I haven't seen the Batman Serial at my local stores. The only ones I've seen again from previous sales are Mozart and the Whale $3, Christmas with the Kranks $3 and Timothy Goes to school $4, but very, very few copies.

I don't know how BG stores do their stocking, it's so unpredictable Some stores don't have the $4.90 titles yet.

So true, some of the titles mentioned here a month ago just showed up at my local BL last weekend. Picked up for $3 each:

The Passenger
Memento: Limited Edition Two Disc Set
Flatliners
Casualties of War: Extended Cut
Capote / In Cold Blood
Closer

So at this rate, I might see the $4.90 titles after New Year's...

Dang, I had no idea about Big Lots. I think the last time I was in mine they only had those cheap $1 dvds of old cartoons like Betty Boop. I'll have to look a little closer.

I bought the same DVD and watched the first full chapter - no watermark.

Not to go too far off topic, but Big Lots has a 32" Olevia LCD HDTV on sale now thru 12/24 for $449. It's a refurb, but I can vouch for this being a great TV for the price as I bought one new from CC back this summer for $550.

My DVDs look very very good on it using my Oppo upconverting player and the HDMI input!

Yeah, I saw them for that price in their Thanksgiving ad and would have picked up another one if I had the money in my budget that week, but everything was tied up for Black Friday.

Wow..great finds toldawg128..

I checked a Big Lots today, and only bought 'And Now for Something Completely Different' for $3. I did see the old North by Northwest release though, but none of those 2-disc titles you found.

^Mine's *real* hit-or-miss! For the most part the DVD "section" at is pretty crappy. Even with this week's "family titles" sale they only had 4 of the titles shown in the ad with just a few each of those! I've managed to pick up a title or two on occasion and I always make a special trip when I read about new titles people are finding (it's only 1 mile door-to-door) but mostly I sit here a bit jealous of what others are finding. There are a couple of titles I've been wanting to find that haven't shown up yet so I'll probably bite at the DD Sony sale instead. Yeah, it's a few more dollars but at least I'll get a farily reasonably priced copy.

It's considered one of the greatest musicals of all-time...just a notch below Singin' in the Rain.
