just my opinion.
Agree with the review on 'The Woods'. It has a great atmosphere and is very effective in being creepy. Definitely deserved a greater audience - somehow it didn't end well. Which is the problem with most movies with a good premise.

Meanwhile, during my trip to the Kansas City area, hit 3 or so Big Lots here (Shawnee, Overland Park, Olathe), and the Overland Park store had some anime, but nothing that I wanted or is on my want list. Shawnee didn't have much, other than that Sony Easter bin shipper. Meanwhile, Olathe had some decent anime selection, but yet again, no luck for me (saw plenty enough of the Vol. 3 2-disc Anime Legends version of "s-CRY-ed").

UPDATE: Well, wasn't able to hit any of the 3 planned Big Lots I planned to hit Tuesday, due to my girlfriend taking ages in the two Half-Price Books stores we hit in Lawrence, KS & downtown KC (and we had to get the rental car back at a certain time or face a per hour fine). However, given my luck when she's with me hitting Big Lots, it's not a very good sign if I would've found anything.

Matt

I especially liked the Lesley Gore songs in that movie. I actually bought one of her cds after watching the movie; too bad I can't get the movie version of "You Dont Own Me"

And a huge NEW cardboard bin loaded with the same old Sony assortment, but only maybe twenty or thirty titles, just many copies of each title. The bin was spring/easter colors, light blue I think, and said "Spring into savings on DVD Entertainment" or something like that.

They all sported fancy new Big Lots price stickers. They are square and white with the Big Lots! logo, UPC, and $3 price on them. Pretty spiffy! ...

EDIT: 3 of 4 stores I went to yesterday had the new cardboard bin. Titles did vary among the stores, but there were a few titles that I hadn't seen before, even though they may have been spotted in other areas before:

Gunslinger's Revenge
Hustle And Heat
Dead Birds
Crimson Rivers - Angels of the Apocalypse (Special Edition)
One of our local stores finally got this $3.00 "Spring" Sony display (as it so happened it was the store which hadn't had any new DVD stock since Black Friday!!). There were two layers of DVDs in the bin and multiple copies of all titles.

On Saturday, I picked up:

Batman: The Complete 1943 Movie Serial Collection
Body Double: Special Edition
Casualties Of War: Extended Cut
Freedomland
A League Of Their Own: Special Edition (2-disc)
Meltdown
Old Gringo (I'd been looking for this title to show up somewhere ever since it had been pictured in the Big Lots Black Friday ad)
The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada

Another store I had checked this past Tuesday had a smaller restock of Sony titles, with nothing I didn't already have.

That store also had a few of the titles which have been showing up at Dollar Tree stores.

I remember seeing Cronicas and Corneil & Bernie: The Complete First Season (3-disc set).

Big Lots had them priced at $4.00 each (whereas Dollar Tree had been selling them for $1.00).

I bought a few movies at the Frackville, PA Big Lots in the new spring box the other day. The only movie I got that I haven't seen others mention was a Philadelphia (Tom Hanks) 2 disc special edition for $3. They only had one of 'em.

Checked mine out today and got:

Ali: Director's Cut
Blue Thunder SE
Body Double: SE
Charlie's Angels: Deluxe Superbit
The Passenger (Jack Nicholson in an Antonioni film)
xXx:Uncensored Unrated 2-Disc Director's Cut

All for $3 a piece.

I have still never seen the 1943 Batman set, but I'm sure it will turn up eventually.

Has anyone seen the S-cryed 3 vol. #1 and/or #2 recently that they could snag for me? I've seen them all in the past but didn't want to blind buy them(even for the low price) but have recently had it recommended and now can only find vol. 3(which I picked up).

Thanks.

Good luck finding Vol.1, it's pretty elusive. There are at least 2 others here that are still looking for it.
I did however see Vol.2 and 3 again today, they're pretty common around here. Email me and maybe we can work out another trade

Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking for the 1943 Batman set and could never find it, but today with the easter box/bin I found it. There were at least 6 more copies.

Hehe, that's right, Brian, between David (printerati), I think FangsFirst, and myself, we have a nice little line for that s-CRY-ed (3-volume/2-disc Anime Legends edition) - Vol. 1. I've seen Vol. 3 all over the place in KC, but nothing for Vols. 1-2 here in St. Louis (and when I was over in Kansas City & Chicago on concert trips).

Vols 2 and 5 are still available around here. I haven't seen 6 or 7 in a few months though.

I'm down to two that I need to complete series, s-CRY-ed Volume 1 and Planetes Volume 1. I'm probably going to turn to Amazon Marketplace unless they show up at a decent price online at FYE/Wherehouse/Secondspin, since I have a good chunk of credit there.

Fox/MGM restock today... $4 each
Nothing terribly exciting, but at least it's something new...

The Flamingo Kid
A Guy Thing (SE)
The Pagemaster
Gangster No.1
The Omen (CE)
Stuck On You (FS)
Far From Home
The Woman In Red
Supernova
Melinda And Melinda (with slipcover)
The Fog (SE green cover)
Silence Of The Lambs (SE)
Anna And The King (FS)
The Thin Red Line
Pink Panther Strikes Again
Die Another Day (SE)
Be Cool (FS)
Wicker Park
The World Is Not Enough (SE)
Barbershop 2
Legally Blonde 2 (SE)

The "Spring" bin is GONE already! The remaining stock has been added to the regular rack.
I did spot 2 copies of Steamboy, which appears to be new re-stock at this store as I don't think they were there last week. Could be as there was also restock on a few other miscellaneous titles that have been spotted before.
No new anime or anything else.

I picked up The Omen CE for $4 today. There was just a lone copy of it amongst many of the title you listed, Basaro. I figured for a 2-discer, it was a pretty good value. Although after purchasing many DVDs for $3, that extra dollar did dampen the excitement just a bit.

Planetes

If anyone can get Planetes volumes 2 or 4, I will happily pay cost+postage via paypal and/or trade Steamboy, Don't Come Knocking, or What To Do In Case Of Fire (all opened but never watched) for them.

If anyone here would be willing to pick up a copy of Steamboy and Zentrix Vol.1 for me for cost + shipping, please PM me. I can't find them anywhere near me, and I can't even find anything that people wanted in trade for them. I'm also mildly interested in the Batman Serials DVD.

We haven't received the Sony restock/Eastern display in South Florida except for one store. Big Lots distribution systems are always unpredictable.

I haven't seen any anime restock either and it's been a long but very long time since I saw Steamboy in stock.

I also saw some $4.00 cartoons
Little Lulu
Casper
