But it looks like you can't use a B&N coupon of any sort if you're using that AAA discount.

I also just noticed that the fine print of the paypal offer's terms and conditions states - "In the event that you made a purchase and the merchant has not billed you for it, the purchase amount must be charged to your account no later than January 10, 2008 to qualify."
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that B&N waits until an item ships to charge your account, which means that all those nice pre-orders that come out after Jan 10 are not eligible for this deal...

Hey with this Paypal Barnes and Nobel thing i'm assuming if you are overseas then you miss out? As it says only for residents of the US?
Is this correct?

Thanks.

Worked for me.
I bought it around noon when it was still 30% for members. (Looks like it's back to 20%)
Went through the AAA B&N site to get the 15% off plus entered the B&N 25% code.

Order Total
Subtotal: $198.76
Member Discount: -$49.69
Promotional Discount: -$29.82
Sales Tax: $7.16

Order Total $126.41

Plus I chose the Paypal option which SHOULD save me an additional 20%!

I got Lost Season 3 with expedited (free) shipping for $38 after taxes and discounts. Then, I should get another $7.60 of that back in January from PayPal making my net cost around $30.00.

Edit: I see this was already mentioned in the thread earlier, so this can just be a "bump".....
And this can just be a clarification: It looks like the "bonus" AAA discount is an additional 10% off, on top of the "normal" 5% AAA discount. (Of course, it still won't stack with B&N membership.) An example, using the MacGyver Complete Series (for the wife of course):

Code:
$161.98 Web price $161.98
- 16.20  <- 10% AAA / 10% member ->  - 16.20
- 40.50 25% Coupon - 40.50
+ 4.45 Tax (~4.23% for me) + 4.45
------- -------
$109.73 $109.73
- 21.95 PayPal discount - 21.95
------- -------
$ 87.78                              $ 87.78
Five percent saved is five percent saved, after all....

edit: Never mind, they lowered it while I was looking around on the site....

T4N3B6W is the only 25% coupon active right now, and it's one time use only, correct?

It appears at the moment it is the only 25% code available, and yes it is one time use only per account.

Is anyone able to get the coupons that expire on the 3rd to work. None worked for me. Wanted to use them, but had to use the ones that expire the 10th.

I tried the coupons that are supposed to expire on the 3rd and none of them are working for me. However the ones that are supposed to be for the following week are working for some reason. Wonder if someone at B&N got the coupons mixed up when they activated them. I'm not sure what effect it will have next week but I hope it doesn't mean a lot of coupons will not work. So far I have not seen any new 25% coupons and believe B&N may be holding off on new ones until the paypal offer has expired.

For what it's worth, I just received the "your order is now packed and ready to leave our warehouse" email regarding the Ford at Fox set. The online status is already set as shipped, complete with a UPS tracking number.

You just can't beat getting this set at just $89.xx/shipped!

When I tried to use it it keeps coming up with charging me for the shipping when it should be FREE. The coupons that are due to expire today keep coming up invalid in the system.

It may be the particular item. I had this with one particular dvd (Charlie Brown Holiday pack). It worked on other items.

as for the other coupons, I think everyone had issues with these coupons.

Ditto. Still can't believe I paid $88.19! Possibly the best deal I've ever gotten, in terms of bang for my buck.

yeah, i've thought several times today, "can't wait to have that in my hands." the reviews over at the beav keep making the set as a whole look better and better.

question: does criterion deserve any kudos for "letting" the boxset use their dvd (young mr. lincoln), or did they not have any choice in the matter? i've never been very good/interested in understanding all the licensing stuff, but this made me curious.

It's possible that Criterion allowed them to use it in their box set in exchange for licenses to other films Fox owns. We know Criterion is releasing The Ice Storm, which is a Fox title, so perhaps this was the deal? I don't really know how far in advance Criterion licenses out films from studios. They've had a working relationship with Fox for some time now, so who knows.

As for the set itself, I got mine in the mail today from B&N. This thing is massive and incredibly constructed. It's the most remarkable set I've ever owned.

Mine shipped yesterday as well. Nothing like getting new shelving for my dvds then ordering a monster of a set that will not fit properly on them. It should be fun figuring out how to get this set to sit well with my other Ford titles. But, yeah, the DVDBeaver reviews have gotten me pretty stoked about the release as has the NY Times review, which noted that there are enough Ford at Fox titles NOT in the set for a possible volume 2 (pure speculation on the writer's part).

It was mentioned in the October newsletter and also in an October 28th blog entry. The earliest that it could be released is March, but it could be later in 2008.

Bummer, I really wanted to pick up the Ford set. How did you guys end up paying $88 for it? The Paypal promotion stacked with a member coupon? What was the price of the set on the site? now its at $230.
