There was a 50% coupon, and the set had a fair discount at the time (IIRC).

My ford set had slightly damaged corner on one side. I guess perfection isnt possible. I guess I'll live with it especially for the price. Did everybody else's come in perfect condition? Mine just had a stryfoam thing hold it in place. Seems like it got the corner damage before shipping because the packing stuff seemed to protect that section.

I got mine today and it's in perfect condition.

And as I said in the Ford at Fox thread, holy crap, I can't believe how big and heavy this thing is.

No I was deciding if it was worth a swap at my local store. Ill probably keep it as its pretty minor corner wear but surprised it wasnt avoided.

If I were you I'd definitely switch it at your local B&N store. You didn't pay $300 for this thing, but that's the list price, and it sells for much higher than what we all paid for it. When it comes to things like that for me, I demand the best quality possible.

I ordered the Seinfeld set with a 50% code as well. I cracked it open, and two or three of the discs were lose and had various scratches and smudges. I called up the B&N store closest to me, and they said they had one in the store. I went up there, and they switched it right out for me. I just had to have proof of purchase, that's it. They said had they not had one in stock already, they would have ordered one just for me to do the switch. They seem to be great about things like this.

Wow. Any idea on how often they have these 50% off coupons?

This was the first any of us had seen of it, and only a few people, if anyone besides kenbenobi (the deal OP), got the actual coupon in the mail. Most of us just used the coupon code online from them. It seemed like it could've been some kind of Mastercard promotion, as you had to fund your purchase with a MC. The fun starts in this thread at post 219.

I am still wondering how that worked. I have the B&N Mastercard AND a membership and didnt receive the coupon . Thankfully to the kind people on the net, I was able to use it online and got Seinfeld for about 104 shipped.....Still kind of upset how they lowered the discounts during the time that the coupon was valid, but it was still 1 hell of a deal.

I did not have a B&N Mastercard. I had a Paypal Debit Mastercard, but that's it. My friend, who lives near me, also got the 50% off coupon in the mail. He does have a B&N Mastercard. The store employee said he "assumed" it was sent to any member that used a Mastercard at B&N, which I did last January during the $10 off $40 combined with B1G1F TV Box Set sale. If anyone used a Mastercard at B&N but didn't get the coupon, then I have no idea... Glad I was able to help out so many of you though. I've posted some deals before, but it's safe to say this is the biggest deal I ever posted...

I joined B&N during the 50% coupon deal. My question is I have yet to ever get any of these type of general 15%-25% off coupons that are always posted in here. I get e-mails from them containing coupons for percents off specific books and items. What is up with that? How does eveyone always get these other coupons? Am I just being dumb and missing something?

Um, that's just you.

Seriously, I appreciate that people are posting these coupons and discounts for the rest of us who don't get them in our inbox. I got Doctor Who S3 for under $45 (in store), Star Trek TOS Complete Series for about $83, two $50 LEGO sets for ~$30 each, and the Allan Sherman: My Son the Box 6CD set (list $139.98, member price currently $113.38) for $52.52! And I got those just by opening one membership, and getting a B&N MasterCard to use on some of them! And if I'd used all of the coupons posted, I could have saved a bunch more! (And spent a bunch more, but let's not focus on that. The more you spend, the more you save!)

I got the coupon in the mail. I do not have a B&N Mastercard but I used a Mastercard during the January B1G1 TV sale.

It is rare to get percent off coupons via email (although I did happen to get one yesterday for 15% off, but I think it was already posted). Most of the coupons that Lasermovies posts he finds online by searching--he doesnt get them emailed either. This forum will always be the best place to find coupons, since you won't receive many from B&N themselves...
As for the 50% off coupon, they had never done more than 25% off until that coupon. So don't expect it to happen again since it might not. But we're all hoping for the return of the B1G1F TV series sale in January, which can be combined with coupons...

I don't know if there is any interest in book coupons but here is one I ran across for members with a Mastercard that is good for in store purchases only.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/email/...&cds2Pid=20834

*Offer Details:
For each valid and current Barnes & Noble Member account, this coupon can be redeemed once at any Barnes & Noble retail store. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores or online at www.bn.com. Member must make full payment with a valid MasterCard card. The additional 40% discount will be applied to one eligible (1) book in the purchase as designated by the Member — not the entire purchase — and will be deducted after the standard Member discount is applied.

This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and online Gift Certificates); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, gift-wrapping, textbooks, products available for in store ship-to-home orders, shipping or handling expenses, products marked as "not eligible for Member discounts, coupons or promotional discounts," or products provided via Barnes & Noble BookQuest LLC (e.g. used books, PC and video games, etc.); and (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the bn.com website. Multiple use of this discount (including photocopying) is prohibited.

Except for the standard Member discount available through the Member program and other non-coupon discounts generally available on products sold at Barnes & Noble stores and online at bn.com, this coupon may not be combined with any other discount promotion or coupon.

This coupon expires on December 12, 2007.

I very rarely get any coupons from B&N even though I have a membership and a B&N Mastercard. I didn't even get the 50% one. However they recently sent me a catalogue in the mail with a 10% code and I did get a 15% member coupon today in my email that I ran already ran across a few days ago. Otherwise they are few and far between.

Thanks. I'll get the new Dean Koontz book for $8.75 plus tax. It was at 40% off plus another 10% for members instead of the usual 30% + 10% for hardcover bestsellers.

Too bad I just came from B&N and I'll have to go back.

Edit: So I went back and got it. The clerk was amazed at the price. She said: "Good job."

So I just went to B&N to see if I could use the 25% off coupon I got in the mail (already used the online one twice with two memberships). I honestly didn't think I'd find anything worth blowing it on.

Imagine my surprise to see these versions of LOTR:

at 40% off to begin with plus a free Golden Compass ticket. I had thought the free tickets were only in the 4-disc versions which I already have. Granted the 40% off price was off list ($28.98 @) but with the member discount and the coupon's additional 25% off one, my bottom line was $45.41 including tax and I got three free tickets. All in all, not bad.

By the way, I asked the clerk if he knew whether they were going to have the B1G1 TV DVD sale in January like they did last January. He was almost certain they weren't going to but they'd repeat the B2G1 sale they had last summer. Remember what a snoozefest that was?

Lib, the Manager of the video department for the store I frequent said the scuttlebut he heard was that they were.

I am more inclined to believe your source is correct though. They probably lost their butt on that promotion

As for the Buy 2 get 1, it is ok if you use ship to home and have a coupon, but they have had that promotion every year or at least the last few. But that isnt till June.

I got it in the mail as well. It was nice, +50% off. I used it online (LOTR:ROTK complete soundtrack ($24?) and in store for the Spidey Blu-ray boxset ($39 IIRC?). Almost the best deal I had all year, and certainly the most flexible.

No B&N Mastercard here though, just a normal card, although I've had it for a few years.

I'm liking the looks of that 40% off one book coupon.

Uh....sorry to be the one to tell you this movielib, but those editions, with the Golden Compass cash, are available at most Walmarts for less than $10 each.

At my BB, the $12.99 ones that had the movie tickets were the four disc versions. The ones I pictured did not have the tickets. I didn't check CC.
