What's the point of deleting a post I quoted?

I was wondering about that myself, since the OP was obviously referring to my previous playful post. And I'm not sure what was so offensive about it. That particular poem have been paraphrased to death by hundreds of people. Just type in "first they came for" into Google and see what comes up. I figured my paraphrase was relatively tasteful in comparison.

Besides, when was "good taste" ever a feature of any DVD forum?

1) I have received two DVD orders from DVD Planet in the last few weeks (one single disk and one double disk set), and both arrived in nice cardboard boxes.

2) Regarding the quotation controversy above -- I think it would take a person of intelligence and sufficient education to even comprehend the reference in the first place. I interpreted the post as a gentle satire of message #164... JMHO!

Looks like all of the December Criterions are up a dollar or more - Two Lane Blacktop is $27.96. I suppose I shouldn't bitch about a dollar or two, but combined with the increased requirements for coupons, this puts a slight damper on DVD Planet's awesomeness with regard to Criterion prices.

The price increases have definitely put a damper on my enthusiasm (and spending) with them.

On the other hand - I just received a shipment from them (2 boxed sets) well-packed in a sturdy box so at least the shipping situation isn't entirely bleak.

Well not just december, all of the new releases are up. Thats why I went with Amazon to order Breathless (25.99 and free shipping and it'll be in a box). Wonder how long dvdplanet keeps the new criterion prices up before they drop them down to their regular discount? Like if they keep them high for a few months since they are new and then give them the full 25% discount.

The Criterion banner on the DVDPlanet's main page says "Up to 35% Off!" It is true that in the past virtually all of the Criterion releases were 35% off, but they do not guarantee that they always be discounted by that percentage.

That "up to" part is recent, I believe. I'm nearly positive it's always said 35% off in the past. It's strange that these apparently more expensive Criterion prices roughly coincide with the launch of Criterion's own official store. I wonder if the increase was at the company's behest or perhaps Criterion raised the price they sell to other companies like DVD Planet.

I guarantee you DVDPlanet's sales have been dropping due to the yellow shipping envelope fiasco, and rather than see the causal relationship and fix the problem, they decided to increase the price of their Criterion titles and pre-orders (no longer guaranteed to be 30% off). Hey Mark, another swing and a miss!

In light of these recent changes, do we know for certain if there will be a 20% sale in November?

Is that true? I did not read through this thread to see if that was mentioned or not so was wondering where you saw that the possible sale would be only 10% off. Thanks. Sucks if true.

Ha. Thanks. I thought so until the next poster posted without any correction. Funny. Real funny.

I noticed that Criterion's Ugetsu is no longer listed (nor is it at Deep Discount). Is this an error?

Are you going to stock The Aviator and Ocean's Eleven on HD-DVD?

Only 2 weeks until Aviator and still no Pre-Order availability.
