Amazon's just lowered Curb Your Enthusiasm to $16.99 and Rome Season One to $39.99. That's the lowest I've ever seen for Rome.

I don't know if my earlier email had an effect. Their response was they don't price match other retailers.

However, I sent them another one asking them again to lower their prices on other sets. If you're interested in HBO titles, please send an email to them as well to ask them to compete with Best Buy. They need to know what their customers want and what they're willing to pay.

Picked up an Alien Quad and an $8 cd to get the free shipping. Wish I would have known about the 2GB SD memory card for 12.99. Oh well, another order to amazon.

I know what you mean...I got lucky...I was debating on whether to get Alien 1 & 2 on DD(D) for $15, or the Quadrilogy for $36, b/c I'm not a big fan of alien 3 & 4. But at $20.49 on Amazon, the debate was over!

Thanks to all for pointing it out on this thread!

Don't know if this is part of the Black Friday sale, but there are several good deals on these pages:

Movie collections & giftsets and Save up to 60% on TV DVDs

Some notable titles (cheaper than the current 20% off sale):
19.49 - Nightmares & Dreamscapes - From the Stories of Stephen King
20.49 - The Closer - The Complete First Season
20.49 - The Closer - The Complete Second Season

Prices have started to climb. Criminal Minds Season 1 is back to $32.99 and several other items have increased by $2.00... I'd hold off until Monday and see if they don't have some new specials or sales

I am so thankful to those who started this thread. I got some killer deals yesterday, and all on things I needed or wanted. They rocked black friday by me.

I was debating buying a Costco membership to get the Mel Brooks box for $24.95. Getting it for $34 from Amazon was a better deal. Thanks, OP!

I've never seen an Alien movie...is the Quadrilogy worth it if I'm already overbudget on my Black Friday/DD/DVD Planet allotment?

As others have said, at this price the set is worth it just for the first two movies. I prefer the first myself but I'm in the minority

the Wire is between $27 and 29 for every season, including the pre-order for S4.
Why can't money grow on trees just for this week?

Hell yes! I paid $39.99 for the set and I thought that was worth it! There is so much material on that set that it could probably last you 1 month or longer.

Those seasons are worth going further into debt. I pre-ordered S4 for $39 so seeing it down to $27.50 is nice.

I'm thinking about doing a blind buy on Season 1 of the Wire, even though I have already spent a ton of money. It sounds like a good show, but I haven't seen it before.

Edit: Also considering From The Earth to the Moon.

I spent about $80 on it when it was first released and I don't regret paying that high a price at all. It's by far the greatest boxset ever released. Btw, Aliens is also the greatest film ever made, so yes, it's definitely worth picking up.

The Wire is one of the best shows ever produced. So yes, a blind buy would totally be worth it. Many people have said they were hooked right away and have slowly started getting the rest of the seasons as sales permit.

The Wire is excellent. Just remember, the entire season is interwoven, and each season starts out a little slow, but builds to a hell of a climax. The first season is rather slow, more so than most, but builds the characters more to a reality.

Thanks for the heads-up. I preordered The Wire S4 -- what a great price! I can't wait to watch this season again.

Entourage Seasons 1 and 2 have been reduced to $16.99!

I've said this before, but if you're interested in HBO titles, please email them and let them know you want them to offer more competitive pricing with Best Buy's prices or any other stores selling for low prices. They'll respond back saying they don't price match, but who knows? With enough emails they might just listen. I don't know if my emails had any kind of effect, but I'm still hoping they'll lower the prices on Rome S2, Curb Your Enthusiasm S1 and S4, and Carnivale S2.
