Re: November Criterion Sale

I should be pleased with all the great deals I did get during this sale but at the same time upset because I spent too much money. But all I can think about today is the list of titles I wanted but didn't get this sale.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Sweet! My America Lost and Found box just shipped from B&N. Unfortunately they sent it by ARGIX-USPS.
Hopefully it will make it here before Thanksgiving. However I shouldn't complain since I got it for a great price.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Didn't go too overboard. I'm EXTREMELY selective of the titles I order these days. Especially on Blu-Ray, which is the only format I buy these days anyhow. So I only buy titles that I love and will watch repeatedly. Everything else is rental fodder.

Anyway my haul:

Seven Samurai
Charade
The Seventh Seal
The Darjeeling Limited
Paths of Glory
America Lost and Found: The BBS Story ($64!)

Re: November Criterion Sale

My BBS set shipped too, but I'm getting the feeling that I will be sent 2 copies. When the price dropped, they cancelled my first order and replaced my order at the lower rate, but the one that shipped this morning is tied to the original order #.

Do you know how much you were billed? Was it the first order rate or the second?

Re: November Criterion Sale

I payed at the time of purchase (in store). My first order I payed $76.23, but that was refunded. They then re-ordered it for me and it cost me $58.64. I just checked and the first amount was refunded to my bank account, and the second amount was taken out.

Then I'd say you're probably ok. If you get 2 copies, and are only billed for one, email me and I'll take it off your hands.

Anyone else still waiting for their BN.com orders to ship? If not, when (and what) did you order?

It's an enjoyable film and almost universally liked. Everyone I know that's seen it likes it (although they may not love it like I do). It has a great soundtrack and is one of the best movies ever made on the subject of what it feels like to be in high school.

Also, this Criterion is completely packed with supplemental material. At that price, I agree, you should have no hesitation. I probably purchased it for somewhere in the $20-$30 range when it came out and I have no regrets and revisit the film often.

I ordered Charade on the 22nd and my estimated date is in mid-December. I'm not in a hurry because this is just to upgrade my completely awful public domain copy on DVD.

My order on the 21st for the Larisa Shepitko set (and GWtW) already shipped and should be here today.

All depends on how well connected you feel to the zeitgeist the film captures. My wife and I loved it. We watched it with a couple of friends, but they hated it.

Today I received a "Your order has been delayed" email for the Von Sternberg set. It was scheduled to ship yesterday but the email claims it will now be in 1-5 business days. I'm just grateful they didn't cancel it.

Re: November Criterion Sale

I received the same message for 5 of my remaining 7 items. Just hoping none of those get cancelled now. Dealing with BN.com customer service has been absolutely horrible.

Saw this for the first time when I was in high school about 12 years ago and loved it then and still love it. Some greate quotes and a yound Milla Jovovich are reason enough to pick this up.

The sad thing is when I was in high school and saw this, I just thought the quote was funny, now I actually understand it.
