snaus,
those pics are nice, but do take that black security sticker off. they do come up easily.
That copy is a Xmas present for my friend so I didn't touch anything other than take pictures. I will let him do the honors.

Price at my store was $26.99 + tax + $7 mail in rebate.

so even breaking release date you get the rebate. that is good, but i wonder if the date on reciept would raise any ?'s to corporate or not be honored as don't they put some kind of expiry date like 12/9/08-? on offer?

I waited until the first date that rebate was qualified to purchase, so I follow the same official guidelines and have no problems. If an item is purchased before rebate qualifications, the rebate form will not print from the register as that is all automated and the person would have to pay the price of the item and forego the rebate. The rebate qualification dates are: 12/5-12/20/08.

Hope that clarifies and answer your question.

They will. If they STILL have steelbooks for Indiana Jones 4 and Iron Man, they'll have TDK.

Dark Knight SteelBook was available for sale tonight at the Best Buy midnight release.

I was completely floored when I saw it with my very own eyes. It is the same exactly one as FYE, I did not see any difference at all except Best Buy's version had a lot of dents and dings I did not bother to pick any up as I had gotten them from FYE already.

Best Buy really snuck that one in.

I just noticed on FYE's website that the Dark Knight steelbook is still on pre-order with the release date set at 12/15, can anybody confirm if that date is correct or if it's just an error?

Update on the Best Buy SteelBook™ fiasco:

Turns out the Best Buy midnight release I went to had gotten the DK SteelBooks™ by mistake (how I do not know)...and were NEVER supposed to sell it. Some people were able to get ahold of it last night before Best Buy got the call from the higher ups. So whatever was left was pulled and shipped back. It indeed is supposed to be a FYE exclusive. I heard all this from a Best Buy person today who was trying to find one for me. I do not know if other stores had a similar issue or not. Kind of funny...in a strange way. I have no idea what Best Buy was selling them for at the time. So those people who were able to pick it up at Best Buy at midnight were very very very lucky people!

Just got back from FYE, and picked up a beautiful copy of TDK. When I got there, they only had three on the shelf, because a lot are pulled aside for reserve. I never reserve, because I like to pick my own copy. A lot of them had little tears or dents, so it took a while, but I finally found a scratchless, tearless copy with no flaws whatsoever, and I'm very excited. It's a good-looking cover, but I definitely do think the joker's "why so serious" poster as this artwork would have made it gorgeous.

I was shopping at Best Buy and was going through the aisles and notice a Sex in the City Pink Steelbook sitting on the shelf with the other regular DVd's. I thought it was completely sold out. I really wanted the Black version from FutureShop, but I guess I can settle for this since they sold out the first day of release.

Where the hell do you live that there was still a copy sitting around?

I just paid a shitload for that one on ebay, but I'm very excited to get it soon.

not sure if this was posted over here or not regarding First Looks steelbook releases

i had email them last week and got this back....

Hi Brian -

We produce our SteelBooks without the shrink-wrap so that people can see they're actually Steelbooks - its hard to tell when they are shrink-wrapped.

Hope that helps!

that is pretty much the stupidest response i have ever seen regarding a product. i can understand with someone like that in their regime why FL releases are so cheap and are not for very good movies mostly.
