I just saw A Home at the end of the World http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0359423/ this evening. What a strong strong performance by Colin Farrell. I really enjoyed this film. Hadn't heard anything about it until i sat down to watch it. Sissy Spacek is also wonderful in this film.
Anyone else see it?

Anyhow. . .
I saw "A Home at the End of the World" theatrically and really loved it, also.
Viewed "Loggerheads" about a week ago. Very low-key but poignant performances in a lovely film.

okay so I watched "Queer Duck" last night/morning (midnight) and the supplements this morning - oh my gay stars - this was damn funny. The one-liners and visual gags were flying. Didn't think a full length (albeit 72 min.) movie would work and it did. Now bring on the sequel!!

I just got Pilates Secretes -All Male Nude the other day. It's a decent beginners pilates routine, with 2 nude models doing pilates for 30 minutes. It's a decent work out, but holy cow, the picture quality is HORRIBLE! Anytime there's any fast movement on screen, you see these annoying screen jitters. It actually gives me a headache if I watch it too closely, which is a shame

I would have no idea, since I don't get Logo. The language is saucey the DVD has a TV rating of 14, but there is nothing in animation form that would qualify it as "graphic"

over the weekend saw Francois Ozon's latest film Time to Leave
(synopsis from Landmark Theatre's website)
Inspired by Douglas Sirk's classic 1950s melodramas, writer/director François Ozon (Swimming Pool) adds a modern spin by making the suffering centerpiece of his drama a gay man. Parisian photographer Romain (Melvil Poupaud) seems to have the perfect life: a great career, an adoring boyfriend and a beautiful apartment. This all changes when he learns he only has a few months to live. Suddenly Romain is forced to decide whom to disclose his secret to, and whether or not he should find closure with his dysfunctional family. Co-starring Jeanne Moreau and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.
except for one (gay) sex scene this really was a much more multi-faceted film than I expected. Melvil Poupaud gives an incredible acting performance as the lead character, at times he looks like Eric Bana. Top marks goes to the story that doesn't reveal all and doesn't get smaltzy, cinematography and subtitling that moves around the lower part of the screen
highly recommended.

Francois Ozon's latest film Time to Leave
Thats so odd, I was just popping on here to recommend this film as well. I just saw this at a film festival. I highly recommend it as well. The film left behind one major sterotype in gay themed films... it was quite refreshing.
It gets released Sept 25th in zone 2. I'm going to pick it up right away. I had Norwegian subtitles at my viewing so I'd like to see it again with english subs. However, everything comes through in the cinematography anyway. (and I do read norwegian, just not that fast).
Highly recommend it, and MAN oh MAN do I miss Landmark. I saw the film at the New Nordic Film Festival in Haugesund Norway.

I got all excited to rent this and now realize it isn't out yet.
This should be in the Movie Forum not the gay movie dvd transfer quality!
Oh well, saved it to my Netflix queue when it does get released.

Ah, yes, one of these cross over topics. Should also be in international as well. It comes out in zone 2 sept 25, but if you can catch it at the cinema, i'd highly recommend it on the big screen. Its beautifully filmed.

Guys---I'm working on a review for a gay/lesbian mini series called "Dante's Cove". It's supposed to be a cross between "Melrose Place' and "Dark Shadows". Frankly, from what I've watched so far....I'm not impressed.

Watched Hard Pill a couple of nights ago. Very thought-provoking premise. Early on, I had a big problem with the main character's motivation for wanting to become a guinea pig for the "straight" pill, but understood him a little better during his emotiional outburst later on.
Also saw Shake it All About recently. Very sweet Danish film about a long-time couple who decide to get married, only to have one of them fall for a woman. Mads Mikkelsen is a cutie (he'll be the villain in the upcoming "Casino Royale").

Just a heads-up for anyone picking up Will & Grace: Season 5... they're STILL using syndicated versions of some of the episodes!
They even mention in the packaging that Deborah Harry appears in the finale, only she's nowhere to be found; her scene was cut when it aired in syndication. And they have the nerve to call it "the complete fifth season"...
