NO.

The British collection is a set of 4 not 3 discs of the so-called "shorts" that are currently available in Holland.

The 3 dvd set is the one that went OOP about 6 months ago (though lonely copies could still be found here and there). This one-

In another addition to the Italian tradition in the genre here's Antonio Passalia's previously OOP disc CALIGULA AND MESSALINA-

via Xploited:

"One of a handful of Caligula knockoffs this Italian - French co-production includes the prerequisite amount of nudity, orgies and violence that have come to be expected of the genre. This time both Caligula and Messalina take part in all of the excess & fun! Directed by Anthony Pass and starring John Turner (Gino Turini), Betty Roland & Francoise Blanchard (THE LIVING DEAD GIRL)."

In regards to Joe D'Amato' (Aristide Massaccesi) , what films of his do you recommend? I rented 'Erotic Nights' this afternoon from Potomac Video and hope to pencil in a viewing of this sometime within the week, perusing the supplements this doesn't chinch out on the XXX hardcore scenes.

I would suggest that you look into his early works which are truly "erotic" and not XXX explicit (though only a few)...anything after 1986 has explicit scenes (also keep in mind that many of his productions are cut and re-edited for the US market).

I dont know how many you could find on DVD but these are some films that I would look at:

Blue Holocaust (1979)
Tough To Kill
Rosso Sangue......etc.

Again, after he signed with the French distributors most of his titles became XXX.

so... I watched 'Erotic Nights of the Living Dead' the other night and I was a tad disappointed. The plot is paper thin, the acting predictable for the genre, the hardcore heterosexual sex scenes kind of gnarly since the male lead looks like he has has genital warts on his member.. on the other hand, the zombies are different and effective, the gore though is tame and never reaches the grandiose levels of extremity one expects (this isn't a Fuici movie by the long stretch). and.. Laura Gemser was pretty. All in all itt was okay, but again I kind of was expecting a lot more than what it claims.

I have the earlier 1 disc CAV release. I really did not like it too much. From what I understand, it was a 20 minute short film that was supposed to be in "Immoral Tales", but was cut for some reason. The director wove the rest of the movie around this 20 minute segment, which appears as a dream sequence. I thought the beast was pretty laughable, like something out of a Benny Hill sketch. There's a couple of slightly funny running gags in the movie, but there are some really dull parts. There's a tedious dinner scene that seems to go on forever. It has no cuts or closeups that is really hard to watch if you're used to "modern" movies. When I first read about this release, I couldn't imagine what could possibly be on 3 discs. I never thought it could be considered an "art" film. Anyway, it's definitely different. I'd like to hear anyone else's opinions of it.

Quotermass is actually quite right. Based on today's expectations and criteria which the average filmgoer has when it comes to art-house/euro/erotica this film might not meet everyone's "expectations". Back in the days though.....it sure was a shocker.

Asianxcore:

The Frivolous Lola is uncut but non-anamorphic (1.66 ratrio if this matters to you).

The boxset...two of the films use the European dubs...one has the original Italian audio.

If you do not have the Salon Kitty disc yet....you should.

Yes, I would as these are good films (and perhaps the only option for the English speaking viewer...) and they do use "official" European dubs.

I would not recommend that you get the R2 versions. Go with the R1 but do not expect SUPERBIT quality either. These are just good discs...and that's it. I have them and would have loved it if Cult Epics did include the original Italian tracks...but I am just happy that they are 16/9. Remember, these were dubs that were approved for the European distributors (I think that this was the case for the US as well but I can not confirm at this point).

Hope this helps,
