I sold a sealed copy for $150 about a month ago, although it's since dropped in price as more sellers surfaced.

You still might be able to find copies of the above title at Circuit City.

Yeah, Fear and Loathings are all over Amazon now for very low. It fluctuates.

Yahoo, I've never even seen Barfly anywhere. Had no idea... I'll keep my eyes peeled for those titles, though I had been looking for Thief... for awhile now and only came across it used at Wherehouse. Great film, by the way.

I picked this DVD up at a pawn shop today for $6, because I remember it being worth something a while back, but I can't find any completed or even current auctions for it on eBay, and the prices on Amazon are insane and I know you can't really go by those Amazon prices. Have any of you guys sold one of these lately?

I have another one to add that I recently found at another pawn shop:

-Hot Blooded

Amazon Marketplace:

$138.99/used
$139.90/used
$139.90/used
$199.95/new

eBay:

$66.87/used (none are currently up for auction, and this is the only one that is complete)

What about those OOP Hammer double features? Has anyone seen any prices on them? The only one I have seen is Dracula Prince of Darkness/The Satanic Rites of Dracula on Amazon Marketplace and it
goes for about $35. Also, the singular Dracula: Prince of Darkness is listed at $60 on AM.

I think the only one that's really fetching big bucks is the QUATERMASS AND THE PIT/QUATERMASS 2 DVD. I see new copies of the DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS/SATANIC RITES DVD popping up at Borders all the time.

Speaking from experience, the Army of Darkness LE does not go for NEAR what it is listed at in this thread. Do some E-bay searches for it, it only goes for $15-25.

Look here:

MX123 prices

There are 2 different "LEs" - the director's cut LE is not worth much, but the original 2-disc LE is still going for $37 at MX123 (new name of DVDs123) - and their wholesale price is typically half or less of what the retail is.

Well your search at ebay did not gave you this info below, what you found are mainly those of the LE limited# to 40,000 and 30,000 :

Correction: There were 4 Region1 LEs released

hey Xage.

Since you seem to know a bit about the AoD releases - I see that the prices for the boomstick edition are through the roof (starting at $54 on Amazon) - but will people pay good money for the crappy repackaging job Best Buy did on it just before it went OOP, when they were selling it with the list price at $9.99?

I still remember getting mine sealed in shrinkwrap with two big greasy fingerprints on one of the discs. I think they just took the discs out of the old keepcases and put them in the cheap white plastic digipacks with no collectible booklets - why they would do that I have no idea.

Believe it or not, the Boomstick edition was not available in it's original factory packaging for very long. The reason for the re-wrapping may be due to 1 of 2 reasons: 1. The promo for "Win dinner with Bruce Campbell" was over. You could only enter from 3/11/03 until 5/15/03--66 days. or 2. There were 3 other current editions of Army of Darkness on store shelves at a cheaper price point---original Universal theatrical release--released 8/19/98 (non-animorphic), Anchor Bay "Bootleg Edition"--released 10/30/01 (animorphic) and Anchor Bay original theatrical edition--released 10/12/99 (animorphic and P&S). The pics below are of my copy of the original packaging of the Boomstick Edition. There will be 2 promo stickers on the outer packaging--one on the front and one on the back. And, yes, a sealed Boomstick Edition is very hard to find now and some people are asking over $100 (Yes, I know there are much cheaper places to get this.......for now). If you do find a sealed one, be sure it has the promo stickers on the front and back. I also scanned the FAR superior R3 case. The quality of the source print MGM used is amazing and wins hands down. If you have a region free player I HIGHLY recommend getting the R3. While i'm at it, here's a link for comparison between the different editions. All ramblings just speculation of course.

AOD,

What was the inner packaging for the original release - a standard keepcase?

NCYankee, here's a quick scan of the inside of the original theatrical version (I assume you wanted the Anchor Bay version) and it's an Alpha case. Xage, I had to do this quick, but i'll try and get you a photo soon. I have to go to work right now.

AOD,

Thanks but I was actually referring to the original release of the boomstick edition.

The slipcover for the one I got from Best Buy was the same as shown above but there was no booklet, and I thought the inner package was different.

What's the difference between the 2-disc Boomstick Edition and the original 2-disc LE (in double alpha case)?

You speak the truth. I went to a CC today, and while I was in there I thought I'd check this out, and they actually had one priced at $9.99 so I picked it up.

Wow.
