It doesn't look well at all for the MGM library, which consists of lots of indies, foreign films, and old b-movies.
Whereas MGM was very good at putting out obscure films, branding them, giving them decent prices, and letting you know they were being released.

You know, looking over that discontinued Sony list I can't help think how many of those titles match up nicely in pairs (the two early Luc Besson films, for example). Perhaps Sony is about to jump on the Double-Bill re-release bandwagon?

I suspect it's just those weird "semi sets" that Warner has a habit of releasing and then withdrawing that are going out of print. Quite why anyone would want a "boxset" of three films out of seven...
I can't believe that there won't eventually be a "Complete Harry Potter Collectors Special Edition" with all seven films, which is what I'm waiting for.
It will be voice activated and open to the words "Openus Boxsetius Expensivus"

So it looks like none of these were really being discontinued - just the high-price-point versions are "out-of-print" to make room for the $5 reissues.
Well, even though this may leave a bad taste in the mouth of those who just scrambled to find some of these at $20+ a pop, in the long run it may be a good sign of Sony's handling of their library in the future. At least they're not taking tons of titles off the market and may continue to put out some of their other unreleased library titles.

I just wasted $150 on the oop titles and now they are only $5 a piece!

Even if it takes a little while paying $6 is much better than paying $20. I'll gladly pay 75% less and wait. There are so many other movies to watch in the meantime.

Does anyone know if there are any plans of a re-release of the Omen legacy? I was planning on getting it, but it seems to be OOP now and not being sold on Amazon or any other sites. Are there any plans to release the movies to tie in with the remake at all?
